The War of Blood and Ash was a civil war sparked between two royal Sunfire Elf brothers in Lux Aurea that served the purpose of putting a stop to the ruling tyrant king of the city.[1]
Event[]
At an unknown point of history, a former King of Lux Aurea went mad and ruled his city as a tyrant. To stop him in his tracks, his brother, the first Golden Knight of Lux Aurea, rallied his armies to rebel, leading to a great civil war. As their armies clashed, Lux Aurea drowned in both death and fire, with ash blackening the sky and the sun shining in a blood red shade. When war brought nothing but chaos and suffering, the Golden Knight instead decided to abandon his campaign and to issue his brother a challenge instead: a duel to the death. As the victor would rule Lux Aurea and the knight reigned victorious over his brother, he replaced the tyrant as the new Sunfire King. With this victory, the civil war came to an end.[1]
From this day on, any Sunfire Elf of Lux Aurea could issue a duel of blood and ash, also known as a "Royal Blood Duel". This was done by drawing the symbol of blood and ash onto a piece of parchment, using the blood of the challenger in combination with ash. This practice was later abolished by Queen Aditi and ruled as illegal, as she felt that ritual allowed opportunists to constantly challenge the monarchy to the detriment of Lux Aurea.[2]
