The Starscraper is the forty-ninth episode of The Dragon Prince. It is the fourth chapter of the sixth book, "Stars".

The Celestial Elves greet Callum and Rayla with a puzzling prophecy. Karim presents a gift to Sol Regem. Soren returns home to a surprise.

Plot[]

Callum, Rayla, Stella, and Sneezles make their way across a snowfall raging across the Frozen Sea before finally reaching the Star Scraper. Callum tells Rayla that the Celestial Elves' knowledge on Startouch Elves and possession of the Nova Blade are their only hope in defeating Aaravos, regardless if they are friendly towards outsiders or not. The group treks to the base of the Star Scraper, with Callum and Sneezles being the first to enter the pillar of gleaming iridescent light. Sneezles unintentionally uncover Ancient Draconic runes on the floor, and Callum recites the first three words before it reveals itself as a platform that slowly tilts and hovers upward. Callum and Sneezles hang onto the platform before Rayla and Stella catch up with them. Rayla notifies Callum to complete the incantation, causing the platform to balance itself and ascend properly. Callum, Rayla, Stella, and Sneezles soon reaches the Star Scraper's Rotunda, where they find themselves surrounded by the Celestial Elves.

At the Sea of the Castout, Claudia finds herself staring at a Leaflynx kitten playing with a Sunray Monarch for over an hour. She is tempted to reach out to the creature so she can use its body parts as ingredients for various dark magic spells, but refrains from doing so when she regains her senses. As Terry asks Claudia if she is feeling all right, she confesses that she is not because she is torn between viewing the Leaflynx kitten as dark magic ingredients and an adorable creature for her to play with.

The Elder, the leader of the Celestial Elves, ask Callum and Rayla whether they are the Chosen Two. Callum and Rayla are uncertain how to respond and tries to explain that they are two people. Unsatisfied, the Elder says, "Drop", causing the platform and Callum's group to plummet back to the bottom with screams. As they free fall, Callum notices the "Resisto" rune on the platform's center and recites it, causing the platform to slow down and the group to land on it. However, Aaravos's prison starts to roll to the edge of the platform, prompting Stella to catch it. Stella and the prison start to fall off the platform before two Celestial Elves dive to her rescue.

Claudia talks to Terry about how she initially thought that Viren lost his mind when he chose to leave her before realizing that he had become hopeful and certain about his new path. She considers in following her father in quitting dark magic and finding a new path as well, despite already promising to free Aaravos from his prison. The frustrated Claudia asks Terry to tell her what to do, but he tells her that she is the only one who can see her own deep truth and decide the path she wants to walk. He also assures her that she is not alone and will help her overcome every obstacle she faces once she chooses her way. Claudia decides she will need to see Viren again to find her truth, prompting Terry to start packing for the journey to Katolis. She allows the Sunray Monarch to temporarily perch on her head before petting and playing with the Leaflynx kitten.

Rayla reunites with Stella before the two Celestial Elves welcome Callum's group to the Star Scraper and introduce themselves as Astrid and her brother Kosmo. Callum decides to rant to the Celestial Elves about their leader nearly killing them by dropping them from a great height. Rayla calms Callum down before telling Astrid and Kosmo about traveling far to the Star Scraper to seek the Celestial Elves' help in saving the world. Astrid and Kosmo explain that the Chosen Two are the only outsiders the Elder will speak to before offering them to stay the night in the Star Scraper.

Pharos carries the Sun Seed inside a box as he follows Karim and Miyana in entering Sol Regem's cave. The Archdragon awakens from his slumber and reminds the three Sunfire Elves that he is not willing to show mercy twice. Karim tries to tell Sol Regem his reason for returning, but the former Dragon King furiously demands the banished prince and his allies to leave under the threat of incineration. Pharos hands the Sun Seed to Karim, who presents it to Sol Regem. Sol Regem calms down upon smelling the Sun Seed before Karim reveals his intention of using it to heal the Archdragon's eyes so they can restore his vision of the Sunfire Elves' glory. However, Sol Regem refuses the suggestion.

Callum uses his mage wings so he and Sneezles can soar onto the Star Scraper's Starlooms alongside Astrid and Kosmo, while Rayla and Stella uses the platform that slowly hovers to their destination. Inside the Starlooms, Astrid and Kosmo explain that Starweaver Spiders produce starsilk that Celestial Elves to make various objects such as hammocks, underwear, blindfolds, and Starsilk Wings for wingless Skywing Elves. They also inform Callum and Rayla about Celestial Elves wearing blindfolds to prevent light from the Sun and the Moon can enter their eyes, and they can only remove their blindfolds on clear, moonless nights, so that the only light that touches their eyes is pure starlight. In that moment, some Celestial Elves achieve the ultimate connection with the heavens and become Timeblind. The Timeblind transcend everyone's perception of time, experiencing the past, the present, and the future as one. But the Celestial Elves never had a moonless night ever since the ice storms started centuries ago, causing Callum and Rayla to realize that Astrid and Kosmo have never removed their blindfolds.

Claudia continues to play with the Leaflynx kitten as she asks if it loves her new haircut. She gives the Leaflynx kitten a jolly belly rub just as its angry mother arrives.

Astrid and Kosmo reveal to Callum and Rayla that blizzards started to rage around the Star Scraper on moonless nights following the death of Luna Tenebris, the Archdragon of the Moon and the former Queen of the Dragons. The Elder is the only living Celestial Elf who has removed his blindfold and let in the starlight, though he might also be the last. Rayla sympathizes with Astrid and Kosmo by holding their hands. Just then, Astrid and Kosmo become excited upon touching Callum and Rayla, believing that they are a human mage and an elven warrior, the prophesied Chosen Two. The two Celestial Elves decide to bring Callum's group to the Zenith, where the Elder welcomes them. Callum and Rayla then divulge their quest of acquiring the Nova Blade to kill Aaravos, but the Elder reveals that the Celestial Elves gave the Nova Blade to a brave human girl centuries ago, and that killing a Startouch Elf, or a "Great One", is an impossible feat.

Claudia evades the Leaflynx mother's teeth and claws while assuring that she never wanted to harm the kitten. She then reaches for the potion vial that rolled out from her bag before begging the Leaflynx mother not to make her use dark magic. Fortunately, Terry arrives just in time to use his powers to summon vines from the ground to form a protective barrier between Claudia and the Leaflynx mother. Claudia watches Terry make the vines sprout lavender that produces a calming aroma, compelling the Leaflynx and her kitten to retreat. She then reaffirms her statement about seeing Viren again so she will know what to do.

Sol Regem tells Karim and his allies that even with his sight restored, he cannot reclaim his place as the King of the Dragons and fix what is broken in Xadia. The Archdragon claims that he needs to soar instead of to see before commanding the Sunfire Elves to heal his wings so they can rain fiery justice down upon their enemies, delighting Karim.

The Elder uses the Zenith's ceiling to tell Callum, Rayla, Stella, and Sneezles that Startouch Elves are immortal beings of the heavens who physically materialize in mortal vessels when their stars align with Xadia. While the Nova Blade can destroy the mortal vessels of Startouch Elves, their immortal essence will simply return to the heavens and wait for their stars to align with Xadia again, which will allow them to physically manifest again. Rayla realizes that the Archdragons chose to imprison Aaravos due to their inability to destroy him permanently. Callum sinks to his knees, saddened that they cannot kill Aaravos. But Astrid and Kosmo cheer Callum up because they did not come to the Star Scraper for nothing, since they still need to fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen Two. They and the Elder reveal that an Ice Behemoth creates the blizzards on every moonless night, and the Timeblind foretold that the Chosen Two will pierce the beast's heart and melt the threat forever. The Chosen Two will reclaim the heavens, and in return, the heavens will adorn them.

Soren, Zym, Corvus, Pyrrah, and Hat return to Katolis where they find Ezran, Bait, Opeli, and Barius contemplating silently. Soren gives Barius some mushrooms as souvenirs and is about to explain his group's adventure before asking Ezran if something is wrong. He is then shocked to learn that his father Viren has been imprisoned in the dungeon.
