Information[]
Star magic draws on the vast and timeless power of the cosmos.[1] It is unknown when this source is at its strongest. The Stars are associated with vision, truth, intelligence, otherworldly, reality-altering, timelessness, mystery, destiny, and wishes.[2]
According to Rayla, Star magic might be the most powerful type of magic.[2] It is sometimes called "celestial magic" or "cosmic magic",[2] as it involves the manipulation of time and space, divination, cosmic vision, and seeing into the "beyond".[1] It can also be used to open portals, enabling instantaneous transportation from one place to another.[3] It also allows entities to levitate through the air.[4] Ultimately though, Star magic is little understood, and the study of the Stars is made even more difficult by the scarcity of magical creatures connected to them, with the last Startouch Elves and unicorns having last been seen centuries ago.[5] Star mages are extremely rare - only one Star mage may be born in generations.
No Star Primal Stones have been recorded in ancient texts. However, scholars theorize such powerful artifacts might allow the bearers to bend and warp time and space around them.[5]
Arcanum[]
The arcanum of the Stars is currently unknown. Legends suggest that those with a Star arcanum resonate with the beat of the cosmic heart within the stars, a celestial quality that crosses time and space.[5] Of course, only a small handful of creatures, such as Startouch Elves and Star Dragons, have actually understood the Star arcanum, and unlike with other Primal Sources, human mages have exhausted themselves by just trying to express the concept in words.[6]
Nexus[]
The nexus of the Stars is currently unknown.
Symbol[]
The symbol of the Stars takes the form of a four-pointed star within an unclosed circle. This symbol has been found in seemingly ancient ruins across Xadia and is considered a rare sight, possibly hinting at something long forgotten.[5]
Gems[]
The magic gems connected to Star magic are known as Quasar Diamonds. They are identified by their purplish nebula-like aurora color.[7][8]
Quasar Diamonds are made of pure stardust and can be used to cast dark magic spells.[9] Of all types of magic gems, they are known to be the rarest of all.[3] There is currently only one Quasar Diamond known to exist in the whole world. There used to be three, but one was used to free Runaan from one of Viren's enchanted coins and another was used to free Aaravos from his prison.[10]
Two of these three Quasar Diamonds were embedded into the Corona of the Heavens.[11] The Corona was believed to hold all three, but in reality, the third gem was just a regular purple rock. The third Quasar Diamond had actually been hidden in the relic staff by Aaravos long ago as a contingency by the Startouch Elf.[9]

Trivia[]
- The Star Primal is currently the only Primal Source not confirmed to have any Archdragons connected to it.
- According to Aaravos, the Stars are brighter and more beautiful than anything else in the universe. However, they are also blinded by their own light, do not have any interest in the lives of mortals, do not know or comprehend patience or waiting because they have no need for such things, want for nothing and take anything that is to their liking, and are also unmatched in terms of cruelty.[12]
- There is an incredibly tall tower north of the Frozen Sea known as the Star Scraper.[13] It is known to house a number of Star Primal artifacts, such as the Corona of the Heavens and the Nova Blade.[14]
- The Celestial Elves who live on the Star Scraper wear blindfolds from the moment they are born so they never see light from the Sun or the Moon.[15] They only remove their blindfolds on a clear, moonless night, to see the pure starlight, which may grant them enlightenment, allowing them to see the past, present, and future fluidly.[7]
- According to the Merciful One, everyone is just stardust held together by love, for an instant.[4]
- In the "Amor Stella Vitae" spell, the Stars is represented by a Quasar Diamond as the ingredient that will connect the lost spirit.[9]
- According to Aaravos, the Stars have never smiled upon their creations. That the world was made by cruel, unfeeling hands. That it is an instrument of pain and torment to exist in such a world, and even death is no reprieve.[16]
