The Dragon Prince: Xadia is a video game for The Dragon Prince series released on July 30, 2024. An incoming newsletter for subscription can be signed up for at the official The Dragon Prince: Xadia website. The events of the video game are considered canon and it is cross-platform,[1] with a mobile version released exclusively on Netflix Games in the Netflix mobile app.[2] On December 16, 2024, Wonderstorm was told the video game along with many others would be removed from the Netflix servers, and gave notice to players around 40 hours prior to its closure on December 18.[3][4]

Information[]

The game is a combat-based multiplayer game, a mix of elements from an MOBA and ARPG.[5] Mobile players are required to have a Netflix membership and a device that is compatible with the game. For iOS, a device with the A12 Bionic chip or later is needed.[6]

Players are able to play as characters from the series. Each playable character has an array of move sets that reflect their abilities in The Dragon Prince. Viren, for example, possesses certain moves that are dark magic based, while Rayla has certain agility based moves, and Amaya has blocking based moves. As a result, character selection requires a bit of strategy, as character abilities are complementary and players will want to build a balanced team. Characters all have an "ultimate" — an extremely powerful move that can only be used when it has been charged up.[7]

Story NPCs[]

The Border[]

  • Lt. Fen, a Human officer of the Standing Battalion. He is tasked with overseeing the cooperative efforts of Katolis and the Sunfire Elves to make the Border safe to cross. A stern and stoic leader, but dedicated to his mission and the soldiers under his command. His primary concern is the infestation of magma crawlers interfering with the work of finding and maintaining safe routes through the area.
  • Knight Ravna, a Sunfire Elf Knight of Lux Aurea and Fen's "co-lieutenant" in overseeing the efforts to secure free traversal of the Border. Enthusiastic and distractible, she becomes preoccupied with the discovery of Blacksteel Sanctum, an ancient Sunfire Elf stronghold and source of powerful magical smithing creations. She is determined to keep the powers of Blacksteel Sanctum out of Dawnbringer hands, but is also eager to explore its wonders and history for herself.
  • Mervyn, a Human researcher eager to travel Xadia and document its magical creatures. He is initially protective of the magma crawlers he is studying, but comes to conclude that they are invasive to the area and unnaturally aggressive after feeding on the primal magic tapped by Blacksteel Sanctum for centuries. His early stubbornness and naivete frustrate Fen and interfere with the efforts to stabilize the Border, and he later tries to make up for that by attempting to coax the Crawler Queen to abandon her nest in the Sanctum's depths.
  • Darys and Tondir, a Sunfire Elf and Human in their respective military forces assigned to secure the Border. They are frequently paired together for scouting, escort, or other assignments. Tondir is more rigid and committed to the joint mission at the Border, while Darys is more laid-back and irreverent. However, they develop a strong bond and are able to rely on each other.
  • Saranar, a Sunfire Elf and leader of the Dawnbringers. She was told about Blacksteel Sanctum and its magical constructs by a mysterious entity who promised her that, with them under her control, she would be able to crush all opposition and rule the Sunfire people. She is unable to control the powerful construct she awakens, and it kills her.
  • The Dawnbringers, a group of Sunfire Elves rebelling against the new peace. They aim to plunder Blacksteel Sanctum for weapons that will allow them to retake Lux Aurea and drive humans out of Xadia. After Saranar's death, they descend into fractured infighting and are unable to gain further traction in their goals.
  • The Forgemaster, once the leader of Blacksteel Sanctum. She and her fellow smiths were consumed by their pursuit of knowledge and power, and in their pride committed some unforgivable act that resulted in the Sanctum being abandoned and sealed. She created a massive and powerful construct to guard the depths of the Sanctum from intruders, and imbued it with a message imploring anyone who discovered it to leave its secrets buried rather than repeat her mistakes.

Moonshadow Forest[]

  • Ethari, a Moonshadow Elf leader in the Silvergrove who organizes responses to the threats brought out by the Blood Moon.
  • Lira, a young Moonshadow Elf girl enthusiastic about the Bon-Bon Night festivities that accompany the Blood Moon.
  • Maggs, an elder Moonshadow Elf with an affinity for the forest's spirits. Despite her dedication to tending to the spirits needs and their shrines in the forest, she has a playful and irreverent personality. She considers the Blood Moon cultists to be little more than young hooligans.
  • Remi, Daav, and Neva, Moonshadow Elves and Rangers of the Silvergrove. Remi and Daav have a tendency to get into trouble out in the forest, with Neva getting them back out of it.
  • Bloodmoon Cultists, Moonshadow Elves who practice blood magic. They are disrupting the spirits and wards of the Moonshadow Forest for their own nefarious purposes, all in the service of the mysterious entity Sang'vyr.

The Far Reaches[]

  • Captain Vant, a Skywing Elf adventurer. He has gathered a crew in the Far Reaches to attempt the Great Climb and claim the treasure believed to be at the top in honor of his father, who perished in his own attempt when Vant was a child. When he discovers that his father is alive and has spent the intervening twenty years living among the floating islands of the Eternal Storm, he struggles with feelings of abandonment and resentment and falls in with a bad crowd.
  • Zeph, a winged Skywing Elf and Vant's second-in-command. They take command of the crew when Vant leaves after encountering Corban. They have a "punch first, ask questions later" personality and a checkered past, but are fiercely protective of the crew while acting as its leader. They hope to bring the Great Climb's treasure back with them to an unspecified community or family who depend on them, but opt to return empty-handed rather than continue their absence in pursuit of treasure and glory.
  • Corban, a winged Skywing Elf and Vant's father. Years ago, his airship crashed during his attempt at the Great Climb, and he was presumed dead. In reality, he stays in the floating islands above the Eternal Storm to study the Natamus, forming a community with other stranded former adventurers rather than trying to return to his wife and son. Bumbling and oblivious, he means well but is ill-equipped to handle the storm unleashed when Vant discovers his abandonment.
  • Margot, an Evenerean dark mage. She is intrigued by Vant's ranting description of the Natamus when he's drowning his sorrows, and helps him put together a new crew of airship pirates with the goal of capturing it to use its powerful heart for dark magic. The Natamus convinces her to fuse with it, and it consumes her.
  • The Crew, a rag-tag group brought together by Vant in pursuit of adventure and treasure.
    • Kell, a Skywing Elf and the crew's engineer. Soft-spoken and insecure, but with Zeph's encouragement she steps up to lead the crew after their departure.
    • Shiv, a Moonshadow Elf and the crew's cook. She has the stoic and threatening demeanor of a former assassin, but is just deadly serious about food. She has a prosthetic leg.
    • Pierro, a Sunfire Elf with a prosthetic arm.
    • Fitz, a Human and the crew's navigator.
    • The Admiral, a lunahorn in a fancy hat. Kell is able to understand him, and together they direct the adventurer through tracking and confronting Goatsbane.
  • Desdemona (Dessie), a gustpup tamed by Vant and fitted with a combination saddle-deck to act as an airship. He is named after Corban's ship, also the Desdemona.
  • The Natamus, the magical Xadian plant entity that makes up the floating islands of the Eternal Storm. It is able to communicate telepathically with Corban and Margot, who discover that it and the islands were once a part of the Far Reaches mainland. The recurring Eternal Storm is its attempts to re-root itself, with the local elves inadvertently scaring it away through their aggressive attempts to climb the islands and mine them for goldcryst, a rare resource found only in that region and likely produced by the Natamus itself. If the Natamus were to be killed, the Eternal Storm would cease and the islands fall out of the sky.
  • Ked and Dek, Skywing Elves and members of the Sky Patrol. They assist adventurers who have gotten into trouble during the Great Climb, and train others to do the same.
