History[]

Two years after the battle at the Storm Spire, and two days before Viren was revived after his fall from the pinnacle,[1] Aaravos's caterpillar familiar spun itself into a cocoon, which would begin the metamorphosis to create the Being. Aaravos informed Claudia about a resurrection spell that had the power to bring her father back for 30 days, and that the entity that would emerge from the cocoon would guide them to the answers they would require.[2] To achieve this, the relic staff was required to help the Being emerge from its cocoon.[3]

Second Saga[]

The Being emerged from his cocoon after undergoing metamorphosis that was finalized through Claudia's dark magic cast through Viren's relic staff.[4] At first, he seemed to not communicate, though soon was discovered to be using gestures and images to guide the group to their destination. Using these clues, he led the group through the Uncharted Forest and to the mountain of Umber Tor that held the lair of Rex Igneous, the Archdragon of the Earth, who was given a map to the location of Aaravos's prison.[5] After their group had temporarily captured Soren[6] and had a confrontation with Team Zym, the Being and his group were able to acquire a copy of the map carved into Rex Igneous's tooth and continued their quest to free Aaravos.[7]

The Being mimicked the movements of the frustrated Claudia as Terry ran off to find things that he believed will help her manage her anxiety after Viren contracted a fever. In the following night, the Being frightened Claudia and Terry after he spoke and repeated the phrase "blood of child!" continuously.[8] The Being resumed his role in guiding Claudia's group to Aaravos's prison that was located in the Sea of the Castout. While playing around the water of a nearby river, the Being inspired Terry in building a raft that could help the group in resting and moving at the same time.[9] The Being would spend most of its time sitting around the raft and alerting Claudia's group of potential hazards, especially after Viren had awakened from his fever dream.[10] However, the Being's occasional "blood of child!" exclaims almost exposed them to a dragon that was stalking them.[11] After Claudia scared the dragon off, the Being continued to aid his group in their journey to Aaravos's prison.[12] Once they have reached the Sea of the Castout, the Being, Terry, and Viren waited for Claudia at the beach when Aaravos appeared. Aaravos revealed that the Being was technically his child and Viren's, as well as the sacrifice needed to make the resurrection spell permanent. Despite Aaravos's persuasion, Viren chose to turn his back on the Startouch Elf and spared the Being's life so he could die in peace. The Being then watched Terry reuniting with a tearful Claudia and learned that she lost her left leg during her battle with Team Zym.[13]

Claudia eventually sacrificed the Being to secure Viren's resurrection, with Terry cradling what was left of his wings.[14]

The Being was among the restless spirits unleashed upon Xadia after Claudia inverted the Moon Nexus.[15] Resentful of how Aaravos treated him, the Being chose to side against his father in Lux Aurea and distracted him long enough to give the Archdragons the opening they needed to defeat the Startouch Elf. The Being and the other spirits perished when the sun returned to Lux Aurea.[16]

Book Four - Earth[]

Through the Looking Glass[]

With the aid of a dark magic spell and Viren's relic staff, Claudia enables the Being to emerge from his cocoon at sunrise, which coincides with the moment of Aaravos declaring his inevitable return to Team Zym. The Being then crawls out to the cave and reveals himself to Viren, Claudia, and Terry by unfurling his wings.

The Great Gates[]

The Being begins to lead Viren, Claudia, and Terry through the Uncharted Forest, leaving a trail of green ooze as he sees Zubeia flying off in the distance. When the Being turns his face to the group, Viren believes that he is about to speak. After Viren pleads to the Being to guide and direct them to their destiny, wishing to listen to his words, he crawls towards him and lets out both an ooze-spitting screech and a chuckle, much to Viren's disappointment. Claudia believes that the Being wants to be given the name, and she decides to call him "Sparklepuff". Viren, however, believes that such rudimentary entity does not deserve a name as undignified as "Sparklepuff", which prompts Claudia to call him "Sir Sparklepuff" instead. The Being then continues his mission in guiding Viren's group.

Upon reaching a certain area in the Uncharted Forest, the Being starts to use hand gestures as a form of communication. Viren dismisses the gestures as inane, but Claudia believes that the Being is trying to say "lizard in a hat". As the Being and Viren's group venture deeper into the Uncharted Forest, he opts for a different form of communication by drawing something into the ground's dirt. While Claudia and Terry think that the drawing is that of a "lizard in a hat", Viren realizes that the Being has drawn a dragon.

By nightfall, the Being is eating an Emberback Spider as Viren's group sets up camp and realize that he is guiding them to not a "lizard in a hat", but "the dragon in the mountain", who happens to be Rex Igneous, the Archdragon of the Earth who resides in the core of Umber Tor, and knows where Aaravos is imprisoned. The Being then applauds Terry for experimenting with the ooze he secreted and naming he "goofy goo".

Beneath the Surface[]

The Being sleeps through the night in their camp while Viren and Terry wait for Claudia to return, unaware of her long absence being caused by her running into her brother Soren and his dragon companion Squeaky. By morning, the Being, Viren, and Terry decide to search for Claudia since she has not returned. While Terry reveals his childhood to Viren, the Being discovers Claudia's bag dangling on a tree and alerts them to him, which convinces them that something bad has happened to her. Upon witnessing Soren holding Claudia captive, the Being jumps in to distract so that Terry can finish the job with restraining vines.

Escape from Umber Tor[]

The Being, his group, and the captured Soren, enter the lair of Rex Igneous after Claudia subdued everyone with a sleeping spell so that they could claim the map to Aaravos's prison for themselves. Claudia then orders the Being to remain as quiet as possible so that he would not awaken anyone with his screech. The Being then discovers that Azymondias is not affected by the sleeping spell and is hiding underneath a pile of coins, so he tries to alert Viren's group about the Dragon Prince's presence with screeches. However, Viren dismisses his warning and orders the Being to remain quiet as if his strange, little life depends on it just as Claudia and Terry discover that the map is carved into one of Rex Igneous's teeth. As Terry uses his "goofy goo" to copy the map, Rayla chooses to stab Rex Igneous with her blade, successfully awakening the Archdragon and forcing Viren's group to flee through where they came from. The Being makes it out safely with the rest of the group, where Claudia realizes her father has been taken over by Aaravos.

Book Five - Ocean[]

Domina Profundis[]

When Viren had contracted a fever after performing dark magic for the first time since his resurrection, the Being can only watch and listen as Claudia vents her frustration about not making progress in their journey to the Sea of the Castout, the place where Aaravos's prison is located. He then wanders off as Claudia explains the origin of her father's fever to Terry.

The Being starts to mimic Claudia's movements as she tries to calm herself with her "no synonym for cinnamon" mantra. He continues to mimic her even after Terry ran off to find the things he believe will manage her anxiety.

As Claudia and Terry cuddle by the campfire with the giant Adoraburr that he found, the Being begins to twitch before he suddenly exclaims and repeats the phrase "blood of child!", which frightens the rest of his group.

Old Wounds[]

The Being helps Terry in packing up by handing the relic staff to the Earthblood Elf before they, Claudia, and Viren resume their quest to the Sea of the Castout.

Within several hours, the Being is investigating a family of crabs when Claudia declines Terry's suggestion of resting.

The Being appears in Viren's fever dream as he dances around in the throne room in front of the crowned Viren while Opeli is speaking backwards and Kpp'Ar is laughing. The nonsensical scene annoys and prompts Viren to throw his crown to the floor.

As Claudia gives in to her fatigue by nightfall, the Being starts to exclaim "blood of child!" again before Terry shushes him. The Being opts to splash his hand in a nearby river, which inspires Terry to build a raft for his group.

The Being sits on the raft's bowsprit and eats a Sunray Monarch that is fluttering towards him before Claudia and Terry share a passionate kiss. He then approaches and checks on Viren who is still trapped inside his fever dream.

Nightmares & Revelations[]

The Being sits on the raft's rooftop and eats another Sunray Monarch that is fluttering towards him as Claudia awakens from her sleep and greets Terry good morning.

Several hours later, Claudia and her group find themselves braving turbulent rapids before the Being alerts them about an approaching waterfall. The Being is able to stay on the raft, but Viren is knocked overboard. Terry manages to tie the raft to a tree as Claudia dives into the river to carry Viren to shore. Viren eventually awakens from his fever dream, which prompts Terry wrap his arm around the Being with happiness. However, the reunion is cut short when the group sees a dragon flying overhead.

Archmage Akiyu[]

The Being sits next to Viren who has entered a catatonic state.

As Claudia's group continues their journey downriver, the Being plays with the water while the young mage tries to communicate with her father.

The Being takes the task of rowing the raft after Claudia and Terry finished their dance. When Claudia spots a dragon flying overhead, Terry uses his powers to make a tree hide the raft next to a large rock. The Being is about to blow the group's cover by blurting "blood of child!", only to have his mouth covered by the catatonic Viren.

Bait & Switch[]

Claudia's group resumes their journey downriver as the Being eats the Sunray Monarch that landed on Viren's forehead. The Being is able to shut himself up after the group succeeds in hiding from the same dragon that has been stalking them.

By noon, the dragon ambushes Claudia's group and blasts the raft to shore. The Being, Viren, and Terry take cover behind a rock as Claudia chooses to confront the dragon herself. After an intense battle, the Being watches the dragon flies away in fear and allows Claudia's group to continue their quest to the Sea of the Castout. The Being then guides the catatonic Viren by holding his hand.

Infantis Sanguine[]

Upon reaching the Sea of the Castout, the Being is looking at his reflection when Claudia and Terry realize that Aaravos's prison is located deep underwater. The Being and the rest of his group land on the beach after Claudia captured a Purple Pentapus for a dark magic spell that grants her the ability to breathe underwater.

After Claudia dove into the Sea of the Castout, the Being and Terry keep a vigilant watch for her as Aaravos greets Viren. Aaravos reveals that the Being is technically his child and Viren's, as well as the sacrifice needed to make the resurrection spell permanent. When Aaravos commands Viren to kill the Being with Claudia's knife, Viren realizes that dark magic had taken him and his daughter down a treacherous path and rejects Aaravos for good before he walks to a nearby forest to die in peace. Dissatisfied by Viren's decision, Aaravos's spectral form disappears, with the Being sensing his departure.

When night falls on the Sea of the Castout, the Being and Terry reunite with Claudia before noticing that her battle with Team Zym resulted in her losing her left leg from the knee down.

Book Six - Stars[]

Startouched[]

Claudia killed the Being to secure Viren's resurrection, and Terry cradles what was left of his wings.

Book Seven - Dark[]

Inversion[]

The Being is among the restless spirits unleashed upon Xadia after Claudia inverted the Moon Nexus.

Nova[]

As Aaravos prepares to create an Eternal Night, the Being lands on the Startouch Elf's nose and distracts him long enough for the Archdragons to overwhelm him. The Being and the other spirits perish when the sun returns to Lux Aurea.

Lost Child[]

After Viren's group escaped from Umber Tor, the Being finds Claudia by a pond where she is fetching water for her father. As the Being accompanies Claudia and mimics her movements, she asks him if he has any ideas. In response, the Being starts to use his hands to dig into the mud, which frustrates Claudia since she is expecting guidance from Aaravos. The Being eventually gives Claudia a pair of iridescent snails from his digging, which gives Claudia the idea to use one of them in a dark magic spell that refreshes her appearance. The Being then follows Claudia in returning to Viren and Terry.

Strangers[]

While Soren is being held captive with Viren guarding him, the Being helps Claudia and Terry in collecting ingredients for a dark magic spell that allows them to dig into Umber Tor. Upon returning to Viren and Soren, Claudia compliments the Being for finding the Burrowbeast.
