History[]
Terbium was born at an unknown point in Xadia and became one of the guardians of the Great Gates of Umber Tor together with Chert for at least 500 years. Since that day, the two have been guarding the gates and allowing entry for those who wish to have an audience with Rex Igneous.[1]
Second Saga[]
Terbium and Chert greeted Team Zym and Zubeia when they arrived at Umber Tor to meet with Rex Igneous. Terbium and Chert agree to allow Team Zym to enter Umber Tor after Zubeia asserted her authority as the Queen of the Dragons. However, upon discovering the mountain of rocks inside the entrance, Terbium and Chert informed Team Zym to use the secret entrance located in the Drakewood, which is deep within the Uncharted Forest.[1] Terbium and Chert were forced to hide when an angered Rex Igneous pursued Team Zym out from Umber Tor.[2]
Terbium and Chert were removing boulders from Umber Tor's Great Gates when Ethari arrived to request an audience with Rex Igneous. Despite their efforts to discourage Ethari from meeting the Archdragon, Terbium and Chert failed when the Moonshadow Elf offered Rex a Moonberry Surprise from the Silvergrove.[3] After the Archdragons sacrificed themselves to defeat Aaravos, Terbium and Chert were among the crowd that celebrated the construction of the city of Evrkynd.[4]
Book Four - Earth[]
The Great Gates[]
Terbium along with Chert, are first seen slumbering while in a standing position as Zubeia and Team Zym arrive at the Great Gates of Umber Tor. When Ezran knocks on the gates, both Terbium and Chert awakened. Terbium proudly proclaims that he and Chert are the guardians of Umber Tor, but Chert argues that they are merely doormen since they only open and close the Great Gates. Growing impatient of their bickering, Zubeia demands Terbium and Chert to open the Great Gates so they can meet with Rex Igneous. When Terbium and Chert tell her that Rex Igneous is currently not accepting visitors and that they should try again next century, Zubeia, now angry, immediately asserts her authority as the Queen of the Dragons and, with a thunderous roar, threatens to reduce Terbium and Chert into pebbles if they do not open the Gates. Terbium and Chert immediately relent to Zubeia's command and proceeds to open the Great Gates, only to discover that it has been obstructed by a mountain of rocks that was not present 80 years ago. When Chert suggests that Team Zym should go the other way, Terbium immediately scolds him, as it is supposed to be kept a secret. However, it is already too late as Zubeia had heard it, and she proceeds to demand on why they did not tell her and Team Zym earlier. Terbium and Chert explain that the secret entrance is not dragon-sized and is located in the Drakewood, which is deep within the Uncharted Forest. They then warn Team Zym to not agitate Rex Igneous.
Escape from Umber Tor[]
Terbium and Chert sit outside the Great Gates playing stone jenga, when Chert notices a faint rumble, which is dismissed as his own growling stomach. When Team Zym storms out of the gates and knock over their game, Terbium and Chert become aware of the situation. Once Rex Igneous breaks out from the gates, Terbium and Chert take cover behind a stone pillar.
Book Seven - Dark[]
The Titan and the King[]
Terbium and Chert are removing boulders from Umber Tor's Great Gates when Ethari arrives to seek an audience with Rex Igneous. Terbium and Chert attempt to discourage Ethari from meeting Rex by fibbing about how much they missed the Archdragon after being mysteriously absent from months before telling the Moonshadow Elf to try again in a decade or so. However, Rex Igneous bursts through the Great Gates when Ethari talks about bringing a delicious treat that never left the Silvergrove. The impact temporarily knocked Terbium and Chert off their feet.
