Sticky Fingers is the fifty-ninth episode of The Dragon Prince. It is the fifth chapter of the seventh book, "Dark".

Desperate to stop Claudia, Terry exposes Aaravos's terrible plans. Amaya appeals to Karim one last time, while Callum and Rayla share a peaceful moment.

Plot[]

Terry is in the forest of Katolis as he awkwardly practices his speech to Team Zym in front of the two Shimmercrow chicks, whom he named Aaron and Sam. Aaron and Sam's feedback confuses Terry on how he will approach Ezran.

Callum is enjoying breakfast at the Silvergrove as he praises the environment in front of Runaan and Ethari. The exasperated Runaan tells Callum that he has been saying the same thing every morning for the last two weeks. Ethari advises Runaan to be kind to the nervous Callum, who wishes to build a good relationship with Rayla's parents. Callum tries to praise Ethari's mushcup before Rayla arrives with Stella and Sneezles as she corrects him that nobody likes mushcups. Rayla suggests in holding a "Forage Feast", which is a huge celebratory meal for special occasions and visitors consisting of dishes created from ingredients gathered from everything they can find in the Moonshadow Forest. Ethari believes it is a wonderful idea, though he is unable to join Rayla and Runaan in foraging since he has two watch over the Moon Cubs, which consist of Lira and two other Moonshadow Elf children. Callum decides to volunteer in watching over the Moon Cubs due to his experience of babysitting Ezran, allowing Ethari to forage alongside Rayla and Runaan.

Ezran is resting in front of the Banther Lodge's fireplace alongside Azymondias, Bait, Hat, and Jellybug when the Associate Crow Lord approaches them with a letter from Duren. The Associate Crow Lord asks Ezran to put in a good word about his leadership potential to the Crow Lord to expand his career, and Ezran accepts. Ezran reads the letter and is ecstatic that Aanya is updating the swift progress of "Project Ruby Fire". Zym is uneasy about the news, though Ezran assures the young dragon that they are building powerful weapons to deter future threats from endangering Katolis again. Opeli soon walks in to inform Ezran that an Earthblood Elf has arrived at the Banther Lodge and requested an audience with him. She then allows the guards to escort Terry inside the Banther Lodge as the latter tries to explain that he is not on the side of the enemy. The confused Ezran does not remember Terry since they never met face-to-face.

Ethari prepares to forage alongside Rayla, Runaan, and Stella as he reveals to the Moon Cubs that Callum and Sneezles will be watching over them. The Moon Cubs promise to show Callum total respect as Ethari leaves with Rayla, Runaan, and Stella. But once Ethari is out of sight, the laughing Moon Cubs tackle Callum and Sneezles.

Karim continues to sulk in his prison at the Sunfire Elf camp when Amaya and Gren decide to visit him, and he is surprised that they came to him without Janai's approval. Amaya tries to appeal to Karim by talking about how she overcame her past prejudice against elves. Karim rejects Amaya's gesture on how they are alike by claiming that his belief came from knowledge instead of fear, stating that humans will never be satisfied with what they have taken until Sunfire Elf history and culture are dust in the desert wind. Amaya says that while she will not shed a tear on the day of Karim's execution, Janai will since she has given so much to give the Sunfire Elves a future where everyone can be with their loved ones. Karim then gasps when Miyana arrives.

The embarrassed Terry sits with the puzzled High Council as he assumes that everyone already know who he is. The angry Soren soon joins them and instantly recognizes Terry before confronting the Earthblood Elf for dumping Claudia. Terry confesses that he left Claudia because he started to grow uncomfortable with her dark plans, and Soren slowly calms down as Ezran asks about what Claudia is planning. Terry wants everyone to promise not to harm Claudia no matter what before he can tell them. Soren is uncertain if such promise is possible, but Terry says it is the only way he can reveal what Claudia and Aaravos are planning. Everyone is horrified when heard Aaravos's name, prompting Terry to break the news that Aaravos has been liberated from his prison.

The Moon Cubs poke and prod Callum for being different and for having greasy hair. Lira asks Callum how does it feel to not have magical powers. Callum decides to show the Moon Cubs that he can perform magic by becoming tickle-proof, astounding them.

Ezran swiftly writes a letter to Aanya about Aaravos's liberation before asking Opeli to deliver it. Opeli asks about Terry's current whereabouts, and Ezran says that he let Terry go to see if he can be trusted, though he also instructed Soren and Corvus to secretly follow and observe from a safe distance.

Terry is digging for and collecting worms in the forest when Soren and Corvus ambush him. Soren believes that Terry is collecting worms for dark magic or for fishing before Terry reveals that the worms are for Aaron and Sam. Terry, Soren, and Corvus eventually return to the Banther Lodge to introduce Aaron and Sam to the rest of Team Zym. Terry says that he could not stop Aaravos from killing Aaron and Sam's mother along with many other bad things, and he wishes to what he can to make it better. Soren is still skeptical, though he starts to warm up to Terry after being called strong and loyal. Ezran then talks to Aaron and Sam, who vouch for Terry, confirming that he can be trusted and that his farts smell like the damp ground after a rainy day.

Callum, Sneezles, and the Moon Cubs lie on the ground and stare at the sky until Lira asks about Callum's relationship with Rayla. Lira and the other Moon Cubs then ask how the babies between an elf and a human would look like, causing Callum to think that if an elf and a human have ten babies, they will all turn out ten different ways. Rayla, Runaan, Ethari, and Stella soon return from foraging, and Lira uses the moment to loudly proclaim that Callum wants to have ten babies with Rayla. The embarrassed Callum tries to deny it, though Ethari merely laughs at the notion.

Terry carries Aaron and Sam as he leads Ezran, Bait, Zym, Soren, and Corvus into the forest as the sun sets on Katolis. He eventually finds a tree with sap flowing from its trunk before placing Aaron and Sam on a branch and smears his hand through the sap. Terry prepares to perform a "sap swear" with Ezran, though the suspicious Soren believes it is some kind of a "sap trap". Terry explains that it is regular sap and part of an ancient Earthblood Elf tradition of creating unbreakable promises. Corvus confirms it is indeed regular sap, allowing Ezran and Terry to perform the "sap swear" as the former vows to stick with his promise of not harming Claudia. Ezran then asks how to separate their sticky fingers, with Terry adding that separating is the tricky part.

Callum satisfies his hunger as he finishes the Forage Feast, claiming that he cannot eat another bite. Rayla decides to unveil the Moonberry Surprise, and Callum has a delightful and whimsical vision after tasting the delicious dish.

Zym eventually licks the sap off Ezran and Terry, allowing their hands to be free again. Terry then reveals to Team Zym that Claudia and Aaravos are going to invert the Moon Nexus to release all the restless spirits from the In-Between. He also elaborates that due to the spirits' inability of surviving in daylight, Claudia and Aaravos are also planning to use Lux Aurea's Sun Orb to corrupt the Sun and create an Eternal Night. They then return to the Banther Lodge, where Terry explains that Claudia's love for her family is the driving force behind her actions. Terry says that Claudia's heart broke into little pieces when Viren chose to leave her before suggesting that they must go to Del Bar to find and bring Lissa, the one person who might be able to put the pieces of Claudia's heart back together. Soren rejects the idea since neither he nor Claudia wants to speak with their mother, for they believe that she does not want to speak with them since she left them 15 years ago. Soren then adds he does not know how to find Lissa and that the only thing he has of her is a picture of his family when he and Claudia were still children. Ezran asks Soren if they can find the picture, and through Corvus's silent persuasion, Soren pulls out his family's picture that he keeps under his left vambrace.

Karim and Miyana hug as she assures him that Janai has granted her amnesty, though she is surprised that he calls their unborn child their "heir". Karim wanted his child to play a great role in restoring the Sunfire Elves' old glory, but Miyana tells him that her dream has changed into having a healthy, happy, and beloved child. Miyana reminds Karim of their failure in attempting to achieve power, and she encourages him to dream about their family. She then asks Karim to fight and stay alive for her and their child. Karim solemnly presses his head against Miyana's baby bump as she comforts him.

Callum, Rayla, Stella, and Sneezles rest by the dining table following the Forage Feast. Callum ponders about staying in the Silvergrove so he can spend the rest of his life with Rayla and her family. The pair shares a kiss and continues to gaze upon a night sky when a Skywing Elf swoops in and lands on a boulder next to them. Callum and Rayla recognizes the elf as Astrid, who has flown from the Star Scraper to alert them about Aaravos's liberation and plan to create an Eternal Night.
