Sky Dragons are one of the six classes of dragons found in Xadia. They possess a connection to the magical energy of the Sky. They make use of various elements of the Sky, including movements of the wind, storms, and clouds. They are said to have an overall free-spirited and playful nature.[1]
Breezewisp Dragons[]
Breezewisp Dragons are small, wisp-like dragons with paper-thin bodies and a serpent-like body shape. Due to being so light, the breeze seems to carry them.[1] Not much else is known about these dragons.
Cloud Wyverns[]
Cloud Wyverns are shimmering, pure white, two-winged dragons with a semi-solid body that resembles clouds. Not much larger than a regular human or elf, these dragons retreat to the skies and only show themselves during heavy rainfalls or merciless turbulences. Some people may suggest they purify the air. Two long horns grow from their heads, and they carry two wings on their back. Unlike regular wyverns, they appear to have four legs.[1]
Dustfury Dragons[]
Dustfury Dragons are four-winged dragons that are highly territorial and often spotted plaguing already failing crop lands.[1]
Horizon-Mawed Dragons[]
Horizon-Mawed Dragons use perfectly color-matched scales to camouflage in the sky, leaving their true appearance a mystery. However, they are suspected to be large and winged, due to the size of their maws that sometimes become visible.[1]
Hurricane's Eye Dragons[]
Hurricane's Eye Dragons can be found along the upper clouds of tropical storms, though it is unclear if they find said storms or create them. Their bodies are big and lanky.[1]
Lightningspear Dragons[]
Lightningspear Dragons are fast dragons who use a dive-bombing technique to hunt down unsuspecting prey, then render them immobile through electrocution.[1]
Storm Dragons[]
Storm Dragons are rare, enormous, and powerful four-legged dragons that carry two large wings on their backs, while thick manes grow from their heads down to their backs, with an additional tuft sprouting from the end of their tail. Their head is crowned by multiple horns, and their feet are equipped with sharp claws. In some cases, the inner side of their wings are marked by a pattern resembling lightning. Their appearance is meant to evoke clouds against a vast blue sky.[2] Additionally, Storm Dragons are shown to exhibit sexual dimorphism. The females of this subspecies have longer necks and thinner bodies in proportion to the males.[3]
Storm Dragons can control and harness the powers of storms, allowing them to perform abilities such as channeling lightning through their bodies or firing lightning bolts from their mouths. The casting is often accompanied by a blue glow in their eyes. These abilities are developed as early as their dragonling stage. Their bodies are also resistant to lightning to some extent,[4][5] and they can endure high altitudes without being negatively affected by the thin air.[6] Through the cast of "Vocare Nimbum", they can create storms at their demand.[7] They can also pull natural storms to where they wish for them to go, even all the way to the other side of the continent.[8]
Storm Dragons are said to only lay an egg once every 1000 years.[9] They build their nest out of moss and flowers for their eggs.[2] The incubation time between their eggs varies heavily. In the case of Azymondias, the incubation lasted for several years.[10]
Storm Dragons are omnivorous creatures that can eat other animals[11] and plants.[12]
Storm-Maned Dragons[]
Storm-Maned Dragons are white-maned dragons that hide within storms they summon. These dragons possess powerful ice magic, creating dangerous mixes of sleet and snow by shaking their scales.[1]
Thunder Dragons[]
Thunder Dragons are capable of roaring so loudly that the ground begins to tremble. They use this roar as a weapon, known to be a frightening opponent that causes devastation.[1]
Tornado Dragons[]
Tornado Dragons hunt on open plains where they summon whirlwinds to lift heavy prey up into the sky. Their gray scales are used to camouflage within the whirlwinds.[1]
Whispering Specter Dragons[]
Whispering Specter Dragons are the cause of many ghost stories due to their ability to pass through thin walls and heavy foliage without making a sound, as well as the flap of their wings resembling the sound of whispered gibberish. These dragons appear as semi-solid, bird-like creatures with four legs and tendrils sprouting from their back. They only grow up to seven feet.[1]

Trivia[]
- According to Lujanne, Sky Dragons can only hatch from their eggs in the eye of a storm. It can be a storm that occurs naturally or a storm that is artificially invoked, such as by shattering a Sky Primal Stone to release the storm contained inside it.[13]
