History[]
At some point in his life, Saleer joined Katolis's High Council as a trusted member and served under King Harrow for several years until the latter's death.[1]
First Saga[]
When Viren attempted to persuade the High Council to attack Xadia as retaliation for the death of King Harrow, Saleer disagreed with the idea due to the lack of direct conflicts following the assassination.[2] However, Viren committed treason by secretly calling a summit with the monarchs of the other four Human Kingdoms, and Saleer witnessed Opeli ordering Marcos and the other guards to apprehend the High Mage.[3]
Following Viren's arrest, Saleer and the rest of the High Council discussed on whether Viren should be executed for his actions when Ezran returned to Katolis with Bait and Corvus on the back of Banthers to claim his rightful place as king.[4] Saleer was present when Ezran received messages about the deaths of Queen Fareeda and King Florian, when Soren and Claudia were captured for conspiring with their father, and when Prince Kasef suggested an alliance between the kingdoms to invade Xadia.[5] After Ezran failed to convince Kasef about peace with Xadia, Saleer arranged a secret meeting between the Neolandian prince and Viren on how to overthrow Ezran.[6] Ezran found himself facing a dilemma when Neolandia, Del Bar, and Evenere threatened to wage war on Katolis as Saleer offered the young king the solution of abdicating the throne. Once Ezran conceded, Saleer had the former switch places with Viren.[7] Saleer was the first to cheer when Viren crowned himself the new King of Katolis, which allowed the four Human Kingdoms to unite in their campaign of attacking Xadia.[8] Saleer rode by Viren's side during their journey and witnessed the latter using dark magic to create a path through the Border.[9] Following their entry to Xadia, Viren corrupted and stole the power of Lux Aurea as Saleer watched his king transform all of his followers into fire monsters.[10] Saleer then followed Viren into marching towards the Storm Spire to kill Zubeia.[11] As the battle at the Storm Spire ensued, Saleer acted as one of Viren's lieutenant in commanding the soldiers. However, reinforcements led by Queen Aanya arrived to aid the defenders of the Storm Spire before they arrested Saleer for high treason.[12]
Book Two - Sky[]
A Secret and a Spark[]
Saleer participates in a meeting of the High Council, following the assassination of King Harrow. Viren wishes to initiate an attack on Xadia, but Saleer rejects the suggestion and reminds him that Xadia had only sent assassins to kill King Harrow. Although Viren demands to answer for this action, Saleer brings up that there has not been the slightest skirmish since the attack and more may not follow, due to the enemy being satisfied with getting their revenge for the death of Avizandum.
Heart of a Titan[]
Saleer briefly appears in a flashback when Harrow and Viren are planning a possible attack on Avizandum.
The Book of Destiny[]
Saleer briefly appears next to Opeli when Marcos informs the High Council that Viren is nowhere to be found after betraying Katolis.
Book Three - Sun[]
Sol Regem[]
Following Viren's arrest, Saleer and the rest of the High Council are discussing what should be done about the former High Mage. When Saleer asks Opeli on what she is suggesting, she replies that the only way to neutralize Viren is by executing him. However, the meeting is interrupted when Ezran, Bait, and Corvus enter the throne room on the back of two Banthers. One of the Banthers briefly growl at Saleer, who immediately flinches. Ezran and Bait dismount their Banther in front of the throne as everyone kneels before the rightful King of Katolis.
The Crown[]
The day after Ezran's return, Saleer and the High Council are present in the throne room when the Crow Master delivers the news about the deaths of King Florian and Queen Fareeda, as well as when Marcos brings Soren and Claudia who are in chains and when Prince Kasef of Neolandia proposes an alliance to invade Xadia after his father King Ahling was critically injured.
Ghost[]
After Ezran failed to persuade Kasef to make peace with Xadia, Saleer decides to have a word with the latter. They then secretly visit the dungeon where Viren is being held.
The Midnight Desert[]
The next day, Saleer brings Kasef to the throne room, who brings the news that the armies of Del Bar and Evenere have arrived in Katolis. Kasef threatens Ezran that if he does not join the alliance by sunrise, three armies will wage war on Xadia and Katolis. As Ezran struggles with his dilemma, Saleer suggests a solution to prevent the coming bloodshed: abdicating the throne and switching places with Viren. With no other choice, Ezran relents and Saleer announces that the soldiers who do not wish to attack Xadia will be allowed to lay down their arms and return to their families.
Heroes and Masterminds[]
After Ezran is imprisoned, the people of Katolis gather in the throne room to choose a new monarch. When Viren arrives, he immediately seizes power and declares himself the new King of Katolis. Saleer instigates a cheer as Corvus and Opeli flee from the castle. Saleer is also present when Viren banishes the soldiers who do not wish to fight in the war against Xadia.
Thunderfall[]
Saleer leads the combined armies of Katolis, Neolandia, Del Bar, and Evenere alongside Viren, Soren, Claudia, and Kasef on the march to Xadia. When Kasef brings the news about the Breach's destruction, Viren uses the horn of the Fire Dragon Pyrrah that Soren cut off to create a path through the Border's river of churning lava.
Hearts of Cinder[]
After Viren stole and corrupted the power of Lux Aurea, Saleer watches his king transforming all of the human soldiers into fire monsters.
Dragonguard[]
Saleer is present when the human army approaches the Storm Spire.
The Final Battle[]
As the human army prepares for battle against the defenders of the Storm Spire, Saleer waits for Viren's command to attack. However, after the enhanced Kasef advances through the battlefield on his own, Viren and Saleer decide to order the charge. The tide of the battle turns when Queen Aanya arrives with the army of Duren and Ezran's loyalists. With Viren's army defeated, Saleer is arrested for high treason.
