History[]
Opeli was born inside Katolis on October 18th. She became the High Cleric of her kingdom's High Council at some point during her life. She was also the one to crown Harrow as the new King of Katolis seven days after the passing of his father Atticus.[1]
First Saga[]
On the day King Harrow was going to be assassinated by Moonshadow Elves, Opeli interrupted Callum's training session with Soren to inform the prince that his stepfather wished to speak with him.[2] After Runaan managed to kill King Harrow, Opeli criticized Viren for rushing the funeral when the people of Katolis needed to mourn their monarchs for seven days. Viren argued that they must hasten the ceremony due to impending war with Xadia. Opeli and her fellow torchbearers refused to ignite the funeral pyre, which prompted Viren to order his daughter Claudia to do so in their place with dark magic. Viren also claimed that the Moonshadow Elves slew Harrow's sons as well, and that he must be crowned king so that Katolis would not be leaderless. Opeli reluctantly followed through with the coronation, but when Amaya and Gren arrived to reveal that the princes were alive, Opeli smiled knowing that Viren's coup was thwarted.[3]
In the following days, Opeli refused Viren's pleas of convincing the High Council to attack Xadia after dragons and elves were sighted around the Border. She told everyone that their top priority was finding the princes and that only a monarch or a regent could call in a summit with the other four Human Kingdoms to discuss whether they must wage war with Xadia.[4] Opeli soon discovered that Viren used Harrow's seal and posed as an official regent to call in a summit and berated the High Mage out for committing treason.[5] Realizing the danger Viren could pose, Opeli ordered the Crownguard to arrest Viren.[6] As the Crownguard stormed Viren's chambers and overwhelmed his magical prowess, Opeli managed to convince Viren to stand down so that he would be imprisoned instead of be killed on the spot.[7]
Opeli and the rest of the High Council discussed whether Viren should be executed when Ezran, Bait, and Corvus entered the throne room on the back of Banthers. Opeli was the first to bow to her rightful king and offered Ezran the crown of Katolis.[8] On the next day's High Council meeting, Opeli informed everyone about the attacks on Queen Fareeda, King Florian, and King Ahling before learning that Viren had ordered Soren and Claudia to kill Callum and Ezran. Soon after, Prince Kasef arrived to propose an alliance against Xadia, which sent Ezran into a dilemma. Opeli advised Ezran about the burden of the crown and suggested appointing a regent to rule in his stead for the time being. However, Ezran chose to spare Soren and Claudia and to make peace with Xadia. Opeli complimented Ezran's bravery and continued to advise him after he took the crown.[9] Opeli remained at Ezran's side even after the latter failed to persuade Kasef to remain on peaceful terms with Xadia.[10] When Kasef threatened war with Katolis, Opeli assured Ezran that their kingdom's powerful military would prevail despite the possible casualties numbering in tens of thousands. Fearing such loss, Ezran chose to heed Saleer's advice on abdicating the crown so that his people would be spared from such violence, assuring Opeli that everything would turn out fine.[11] As Ezran switched places with Viren, Opeli gathered the people of Katolis in the throne room to elect a new monarch. Despite her objections and insistence for tradition, Viren seized the crown and usurped the throne, effectively becoming the new King of Katolis. Opeli and Corvus chose to flee to Duren so that they would not be captured and branded as traitors, but Soren was able to convince them in freeing Ezran from imprisonment alongside Barius, Lujanne, and Phoe-Phoe. Opeli proudly proclaimed Ezran as her true king and watched as he and Bait flew to Xadia on Phoe-Phoe's back.[12] Later on, Opeli arrived at the Storm Spire alongside the armies of Duren and Ezran's loyalists to reinforce the defenders. After the battle was won, Opeli witnessed Azymondias reuniting with Zubeia.[13]
When Team Zym journeyed to the Moon Nexus to witness Phoe-Phoe's rebirth, Opeli was left with the responsibility of running Katolis.[14]
Second Saga[]
Opeli continued to serve King Ezran two years after the battle at the Storm Spire and welcomed Barius as an official member of the High Council. After Ezran announced that Zubeia and Azymondias are coming to Katolis as special guests, Opeli was quite hesitant and expressed her concern due to the history between dragons and the people of Katolis. Ezran was able to put her disquiet at ease due to his friendship with Zubeia and Azymondias, allowing her to adjourn the meeting. Opeli later helped in celebrating Callum's birthday party.[15] On the day of the festivities, Opeli notified Ezran that there were still Katolians who were angry at the dragons since they were responsible for the deaths of some of the kingdom's monarchs. Ezran insisted that they would make history with peace, and Opeli continued to place her faith in her king.[16] After Ibis's dying message alerted Zubeia about the potential return of Aaravos, Opeli successfully persuaded the Dragon Queen and Team Zym to work together and promised Ezran that the High Council could watch over Katolis during his journey.[17]
Opeli and the Crownguard arrested Rayla after they saw her breaking into the High Mage's office and retrieving Runaan's bowblade. When Callum was informed of the situation, he demanded Opeli to release Rayla due to his trust and love for the Moonshadow Elf. Opeli eventually complied[18] and she alongside Barius bid farewell to the pair when they were about to journey to Lux Aurea while promising to send word to the Storm Spire so that Ezran's group will be informed about the next mission.[19]
After Team Zym brought Aaravos's prison to Katolis and introduced Opeli to Sneezles, Hat, and Jellybug, she suggested in informing the other four Human Kingdoms so they could assemble a multi-kingdom force of elite guards to protect the prison so that Aaravos could never escape. Her idea was shot down after Ezran declared that they must keep the prison hidden and protected in Katolis.[20] Opeli eventually witnessed Ezran arresting the humbled Viren[21] before she and the other High Council members became uncertain what to do after the former High Mage of Katolis was imprisoned in the dungeon.[22] During Sol Regem's attack on Katolis, Opeli carried Hat out of the castle while Soren rushed to the dungeon to free Viren so he could use dark magic to protect the people from the Archdragon's fire.[23]
Book One - Moon[]
Echoes of Thunder[]
Opeli interrupts Callum's training session with Soren to inform the prince that his stepfather, King Harrow, wishes to see him.
Bloodthirsty[]
The night of King Harrow's assassination, Opeli is part of the funeral procession, yet criticizes Lord Viren for rushing the funeral when it is Katolian tradition to mourn the monarch for seven days. The High Mage argued that expediency is required in the time of war. Once they reach the Valley of the Graves, Viren gives a eulogy, stating that in his final moments, Harrow called Viren his brother. Opeli then inquired as to the princes' whereabouts. The news came out that the princes were also killed, shocking the crowd. Viren declared that Xadia's cruelty would not go unanswered and demand the people move forward with strength and ordered Opeli to light the pyre. Opeli defiantly refused and extinguished her torch and her fellow torchbearers followed suit, so Viren orders his daughter Claudia to use dark magic to do so in their place. He then demanded the people mourn seven-fold for the next night there would be a coronation.
The next night, a reluctant Opeli was about to crown Viren Lord Protector when General Amaya arrived, announcing through her interpreter Gren that the princes are alive. The news puts a smile on her face, as this meant Viren's attempt to seize power is thwarted.
Book Two - Sky[]
A Secret and a Spark[]
Opeli attends a meeting of the High Council as Viren brings to their attention news of dragons flying high above the towns of Katolis, insisting them to take action. However, Saleer preaches patience, stating that since Harrow's assassination, there has not been a single skirmish since then and believes that the situation would de-escalate. However, Viren argues that General Amaya reported elven forces gathering at the Border and is convinced Katolis must prepare for war, as well as call for a summit of the Pentarchy. Opeli calls him out of order, reminding that only a king or queen can call a summit and adds that the other rulers of the Human Kingdoms would accept nothing less than a letter bearing Harrow's seal. Despite Viren arguing that humanity might face extinction if they did not act, Opeli retorts that they could not act until they find the princes.
Breaking the Seal[]
Opeli briefly appears in a flashback narrated by Viren as she crowned Harrow the new King of Katolis.
Heart of a Titan[]
Opeli briefly appears in a flashback when Harrow and Viren were planning a possible attack on Avizandum.
Fire and Fury[]
When Viren returns from a summit of the Pentarchy, Opeli confronts him, having learned he used Harrow's seal to summon the Pentarchy and falsely claim regency, and asks if his treason was worth it. The High Mage responds that all his efforts were for naught and walks away. Opeli promises that Viren would be removed from the High Council for his actions and that he would be lucky if it ended there.
The Book of Destiny[]
Opeli later decides to have Viren arrested and has the Crownguard search the castle. As Marcos reports that they could find no sign of Viren, Opeli orders him to double the search and warns him not to underestimate Viren when they find him.
Breathe[]
As the guards storm Viren's chambers and slowly overwhelm him, Opeli orders Viren to surrender and to not let her give the order to kill him. With Aaravos's persuasion, Viren drops his staff and is taken to the dungeons.
Book Three - Sun[]
Sol Regem[]
Opeli informs the High Council that no chains in the five kingdoms are strong enough to hold Viren and plans to end the problem with a permanent solution. The meeting is interrupted when Ezran, Bait, and Corvus enter the throne room on the back of Banthers. As Ezran approaches the throne, Opeli kneels before Ezran as she offers him the crown of Katolis.
The Crown[]
After Ezran greets the High Council in the throne room, the Crow Master arrives with letters that bear the news about the assassinations of King Florian and Queen Fareeda, as well as the comatose state of King Ahling. Shortly after, Marcos arrives with Soren and Claudia in chains. When Claudia tries to explain their mission, Opeli insists that the two siblings must be locked away. Ezran is hesitant and decides to have them kept in the castle's storage while still in chains.
When Kasef, the Crown Prince of Neolandia, arrives in Katolis and asks Ezran to declare war on Xadia, Ezran grows anxious and decides to spend some time alone with Bait. Opeli then approaches her king and tells him the burden of the crown is heavy and that it is not his fault that he is still a child. She suggests a solution of assigning a regent, someone Ezran trusts to rule in his stead while he focuses on growing up for a few years.
After some time of thinking, Ezran returns to the throne room to make his decisions. He decides to set Soren and Claudia free and that Katolis will instead make peace with Xadia. Opeli admires Ezran's courage, but she reminds him that peace will require just as much strength as war and asks if he is prepared to defend it. Ezran confirms his decision by wearing the crown of Katolis.
Ghost[]
Opeli stands by Ezran's side when he tells Kasef about Callum's mission to bring peace to Xadia by returning Azymondias, the Dragon Prince, to his mother, Zubeia. Kasef refuses to believe the story and storms off.
The Midnight Desert[]
When Kasef brings news to the throne room that the armies of Neolandia, Evenere, and Del Bar have arrived in Katolis to wage war on Xadia, Opeli is furious that they have violated Katolis's borders. Kasef then gives Ezran an ultimatum: if Ezran does not join the alliance by sunrise, all three armies will wage war on Xadia and Katolis. After Kasef's departure, Opeli informs Ezran that his mother Sarai and aunt Amaya saw to it that Katolis's army is the best trained and most disciplined military force in the five kingdoms, and that they can win the coming battle. When Ezran asks what the victory could cost, Opeli replies with the loss of possibly tens of thousands of lives. Disheartened by the answer, Ezran corrects her that it is no triumph.
Later that evening, Ezran decides to abdicate his throne so that his people can live. Opeli is reluctant about the idea since there will be no going back for him. Ezran responds that he knows what is right and what he has to do. Opeli watches as Ezran discards his crown and leaves the throne room in chains.
Heroes and Masterminds[]
With Ezran no longer the king, the people of Katolis gather in the throne room to elect a new monarch when Viren enters and declares himself the new king. Opeli angrily refuses to acknowledge his coup since Viren is not above the law of Katolis, which states that only an orphan can become the new monarch. Viren corrects her by saying that his parents are dead and that he is the law. As everyone cheers for Viren, Corvus takes Opeli out from the throne room and plans to take her to Duren since Viren will see them as traitors. Before they can escape the castle, Soren cuts them off.
However, Soren reveals himself as a supporter of Ezran by taking Ezran and Bait to the forest to meet up with Opeli, Corvus, Barius, Lujanne, and Phoe-Phoe. Ezran bids farewell to Opeli and is grateful that she still believes in him. Opeli proudly replies that she serve the true King of Katolis and watches as Phoe-Phoe flies Ezran and Bait to Xadia.
The Final Battle[]
Opeli along with the armies of Duren and the soldiers who are loyal to Ezran arrive just in time to reinforce the defenders of the Storm Spire. After the battle, she and her allies bow before Ezran and witness Zubeia waking from her slumber.
Through the Moon[]
Ezran leaves Katolis under Opeli's care while he and the rest of Team Zym travel to the Moon Nexus to revive Phoe-Phoe. Opeli, however, is not exactly thrilled about her temporary responsibility.
Book Four - Earth[]
Rebirthday[]
Two years after the battle at the Storm Spire, Opeli welcomes Barius as the newest member of the High Council. When Ezran announces that Zubeia and Azymondias are coming to Katolis as special guests, Opeli is anxious since the presence of dragons in Katolis can cause mass panic. However, Ezran assures everyone that Zubeia's compassionate nature will start to change humans' perspective on dragons, which can become a first step towards building trust and peace between the Human Kingdoms and Xadia. With everyone agreeing to the idea, Opeli adjourns the High Council meeting.
Later in the evening, Opeli joins everyone in the castle in throwing a surprise birthday party for Callum. At the party, Opeli and several others witness two children performing the new dance craze that Soren mentioned earlier.
Breathtaking[]
As the people of Katolis prepare for the festivities of welcoming the dragons, Opeli brings Ezran to a private conversation. She is concerned that holding the gift ceremony in the Valley of the Graves is insensitive and offensive due to some of the Katolian royalties who were buried there were killed by dragons. As Ezran explains the symbolism of the gift ceremony of leaving the past behind and building a brighter future, Opeli tells him that some of the people are still angry, only for Ezran to assure her that the festivities is the start of a great era of peace.
After the arrival of the dragons, Opeli listens to Soren's effort of stalling time for Callum to appear with standup comedy and witnesses Callum accidentally causing the giant jelly tart that Barius prepared with his fireworks. By sunset, Opeli attends the gift ceremony in the Valley of the Graves where Ezran shall unveil a painting as a gift of hope and friendship. But when the painting is unveiled, everyone is shocked to see that it has been vandalized with Zubeia's face being torn off. Ezran decides to use the moment to make a speech about peace, violence, loss, and forgiveness to inspire everyone to build a better future. Corvus then takes the opportunity to play a piece of music he has written called "A Song of Love and Loss", which lasts until nightfall and prompts Opeli to ignite the braziers. The ceremony is suddenly interrupted by an urgent message from Ibis that alerts everyone about the potential return of Aaravos.
Through the Looking Glass[]
When the dragons decide to return to the Storm Spire after receiving Ibis's message, Opeli convinces Team Zym to join them and that the High Council can take care of Katolis in Ezran's stead.
Book Five - Ocean[]
Domina Profundis[]
Opeli and the Crownguard arrest Rayla after they see her breaking into the High Mage's office and retrieving Runaan's Bowblade. When Callum is informed about the situation in the throne room, he demands Opeli to release Rayla. Opeli asks Callum if he trusts the Moonshadow Elf with whatever secret she is hiding, and Callum confirms his faith as he knows that Rayla will divulge all when the time is right. Knowing this, Opeli commands the Crownguard to release Rayla.
Old Wounds[]
Opeli and Barius bid Callum and Rayla farewell as they are about to depart from Katolis to Lux Aurea. Opeli promises to send word to the Storm Spire so that Ezran's group will be informed about the next mission.
Opeli appears in Viren's dark magic-induced fever dream. She strokes a log while speaking "the jelly tart you like is going to come back in style" backward to the crowned Viren, who is displeased by the nonsensical scene.
The Great Bookery[]
Opeli briefly appears in a flashback where Azymondias reunites with Zubeia.
Book Six - Stars[]
Startouched[]
A blindfolded Opeli asks Soren why she is not allowed to see where they are going to, and Soren assures her that it is Crownguard precaution for a super-secret High Council meeting in a secret location. Soren uses the secret knock and code names before removing Opeli's blindfold as they enter the secret location, and she swiftly notices that they are in the High Mage's office instead of a secret location. Opeli then asks if Bait somehow had babies before Soren introduces them as Sneezles, Hat, and Jellybug to her. When Team Zym reveals Aaravos's prison to the High Council, Opeli questions whether it is safe to bring the most powerful and dangerous being in the world. She suggests in notifying the other four Human Kingdoms so they can assemble a multi-kingdom force of elite guards to protect the prison and make sure that Aaravos will never escape. However, Ezran and Callum decide to keep the prison hidden and protected in Katolis.
The Frozen Ship[]
During a stormy night, Opeli informs Ezran about Viren at the castle's bridge. She then witnesses Ezran commanding the guards to arrest the humbled Viren.
The Starscraper[]
Opeli, Ezran, Bait, and Barius silently contemplate what to do about the imprisoned Viren before Zym, Soren, Corvus, and Hat return to the castle from their quest to find Zubeia.

Soren plays with Hat as he confesses that he did not find it interesting, for he misheard and thought the topic was advanced physical exercises. However, their meeting is interrupted when Sol Regem attacks Katolis. Opeli assists a wounded guard as Soren commands every soldier to start evacuating the citizens. Opeli goes after Soren when he rushes into the castle and tells him that they must go. But Soren says that there is something he has to do before telling her to take care of Hat. Opeli carries Hat out of the castle as Sol Regem continues his rampage.
