The Nova Blade is a sword and a powerful magical artifact that can end a Startouch Elf's mortal existence. It was kept in the Star Scraper and guarded by the Celestial Elves, but it was given to the Orphan Queen centuries ago.[1] Centuries later, following her death, the Nova Blade is currently in the possession of her descendant Ezran.[2]

Having been forged from the fang of the Archdragon Shiruakh, the Nova Blade is capable of killing a Startouch Elf's mortal form.[3] However, the sword cannot destroy their essence, as since Startouch Elves are heavenly beings, they are thus immortal, as when their mortal forms die, they will simply return to the heavens to wait until their stars realign, allowing them to materialize in a new mortal form.[1]
History[]
3000 years before the birth of Azymondias, the Archdragon Shiruakh battled the Startouch Elf Laurelion and destroyed the latter's mortal form at the cost of her own life. Later, one of her fangs was reforged into the Nova Blade. Though it was kept under guard by the Celestial Elves in the Star Scraper, they gave the sword to the Orphan Queen to help stop Aaravos. But instead of using the Nova Blade to kill Aaravos, the Orphan Queen decided to imprison him, and the secret of the blade's location died with her.[3]
King Ezran eventually discovered that the Nova Blade was disguised as part of the statue of the Orphan Queen in the Valley of the Graves.[4] With the sword in hand, he rides Zym to Lux Aurea with the intention of using the Nova Blade to destroy Aaravos's physical form, unaware of the cataclysmic consequences if he were to do so, as destroying a Startouch Elf's mortal form will also result in the world's destruction, in which everything will burn. However, Zubeia and the resurrected Avizandum chose to sacrifice themselves to defeat Aaravos to protect their son and their allies.[2]
