Nova is the sixty-third episode of The Dragon Prince. It is the ninth and final chapter of the seventh book, "Dark". It is also the final chapter of the "Mystery of Aaravos" saga and the entire series as a whole.
As the final battle reaches its climax, Callum chooses to embrace his destiny. Claudia's interference forces Rayla to make a heart-wrenching decision.
Plot[]
Before picking up directly where "Dying Light" left off, Kosmo's prophecy from "Death Alive" is fully revealed:
Death alive.
In darkness thrives,
they wither and writhe in Sun's true light.
But the Fallen One brings Eternal Night.
Though love finds light in blackest eyes,
everything burns when a star dies.
In the present, King Ezran has discovered the Nova Blade and wants to go to Lux Aurea to slay Aaravos. However, he laments how far it is. To help him, Zym gets him on his back and taps into his Sky powers, taking the duo to the Sunfire Elf capital at supernatural speeds.
To be added.
As Callum and Rayla kissed on the bridge, the scene turns up to the starry, night sky where a star is shown to be shining brightly than all the other stars. It then cuts to the constellation "Leola's Last Wish", and the wish Leola had made prior to her death was revealed:
I wish that even in the dark
Sad Afraid Alone
that every child should know...
You Are Loved

Trivia[]
- This episode's title might be derived from the real-life phenomenon of "supernovas": which are powerful, luminous explosions that occur when stars die.[1] It could also refer to "novas": an astronomical event wherein a "new" star suddenly appears and fades over the course of weeks or months. "Nova" is also the Latin word for "new".[2]
- This is the only episode in the series where Zym speaks, though this is also the first where he does so.
- This episode contains the highest amount of on-screen named character deaths with four: Aaravos (temporarily), Zubeia, Domina Profundis, and Avizandum (reanimation).
- Several characters were planned to be at the inauguration of Evrkynd, but ended up not showing on screen.[3]
- A few 2D images of playable characters from the Tales of Xadia roleplaying game were present at the inauguration, including Eljaal, Ponmalar, Easgann and Pyrda.
- Ezran and Callum being in shock of Zym speaking for the first time resembles the same shock Ezran and Bait were in after finding out about Rayla and Callum's relationship in "Hearts of Cinder".
- Ezran lamenting that he, Zym, Callum and Rayla nearly had to give up everything they believed to save the world, is the same thing Avatar Yangchen mentioned to Aang in the Avatar series.
- Callum and Rayla sharing a kiss as the series ends resembles Aang and Katara at the end of their series.
