Moon Phoenixes are a species of large avian magical creatures that are connected to the Moon Primal.
Appearance[]
Moon Phoenixes are large and broad bird-like creatures with slit pupils on their teal eyes, a gray beak, and dark blue legs with teal claws. Their plumage consists of night blue and glowing teal feathers, while the teal feathers on the wings appear to be glittering. Their heads are decorated with a crest of feathers, teal feathers next to their eyes, as well as gray and blue markings in their eye area. Their tails come in swirling blue patterns with a blue flame at their ends. Additionally, three rackets with a blue fire burning at the tips are present on each side of and below the tail, which is used to initiate the cycle of rebirth.[1]
Moon Phoenix hatchlings are about the size of pigeons and appear to lack the tail rackets.[2] They will grow to the size of an eagle within two years.[3]

Information[]
Moon Phoenixes are bird-like creatures born from silver eggs, which are tethered to both life and death. Upon dying, they are consumed by their unique blue flames, before burning to ashes until all that is left behind is a single "ghost feather". The Moon Phoenix's "ghost feather" can be used in a rebirth ritual at the Moon Nexus on the night of the new moon, in which the feather is placed onto the nexus's lake, which then turns into a single silver egg.[2]
Moon Phoenixes consume grubs.[5]
Skills and Abilities[]
Moon Primal Connection[]
Moon Phoenixes draw their power from the Moon and are at the peak of their power during the night of a full moon. Unlike other Moon Primal creatures, they seem dependent on the Moon Nexus. The further away they get from the Moon Nexus, the weaker their body gets.[6] The feathers of Moon Phoenixes allow them and their wielders to safely enter and exit the realm between life and death without consequences.[2][7]
Flight[]
Moon Phoenixes possess a pair of functional wings that allow them to fly over great distances and altitudes.[6]
Strength and Endurance[]
Moon Phoenixes are strong enough to carry multiple individuals while flying for a limited time,[8][6] but can carry a single person and a Glow Toad for an entire day.[9][1]
Rebirth[]
When Moon Phoenixes die, the flames on their tail rackets engulf and burn their bodies into ashes before leaving a "ghost feather" behind.[1] Through a ritual at the lake of the Moon Nexus, Moon Phoenixes will be reborn after their "ghost feathers" have transformed into silver eggs on the night of the new moon.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Moon Phoenix is currently the only magical creature known to be capable of rebirth.
- Moon Phoenixes are sometimes poached for their feathers and blood that serve as ingredients for dark magic spells.[10]
- Some humans believe that Moon Phoenixes only exist in myths.[11]
