Magma Titans are a species of colossal sentient magical creatures that are connected to the Sun Primal, made of burning hot lava and rock,[1] and are native to the high mountains of Xadia.[2] The heart of a Magma Titan was retrieved by humans on a mission into Xadia, aiming to use it in a dark magic spell that can save both Duren and Katolis from an ongoing famine. Although successful, this mission resulted in the deaths of Queen Sarai, Queen Annika, and Queen Neha at the hands of Avizandum.[3]

Appearance[]

Magma Titans tower over their barren domain at a size of at least five times greater than an average adult human,[2] while hot lava flows under their rocky carapaces.[1] While their body is mainly plated with black rocks formed from cooled, hardened magma, selective parts remain exposed and filled with actively running lava, allowing a fluid movement around their joints. Due to the lava running through their cracks, a layer of hot air and steam surrounds them, slightly blurring their body when looked at from a distance. Magma Titans are humanoid creatures with proportionally small heads that stand on two feet and feature four fingers on each hand, including a thumb, meaning they are capable of gripping things like a primate. Their mouths hold several sharp teeth, which appear to be formed from semisolid magma, while their saliva has a fluid consistency. Their eyes are slit-shaped and filled with lava, rather than an eyeball or a pupil. When Magma Titans are asleep, the lava around their body cool down and solidify, only to heat up and liquify again once they are awakened.[2]

Concept

Information[]

Magma Titans live high in the mountains near the Xadian side of the Border.[2] Though they are dangerous, they are peaceful at heart unless provoked, similar to most other creatures inside Xadia. Queen Sarai tried to impress this message of compassion upon the leadership of Katolis, but even King Harrow did not heed her words.[1]

Parts of a Magma Titan, especially its heart, stay warm even after slaying it and can be used in a dark magic spell that provided consistent warmth to the Human Kingdoms, allowing them to thrive.[2] Magma Titans are able to move even without a chest plate protecting their hearts, though fall apart if their hearts are struck underneath their protective lava layer. Once outside the body, the heart is shaped like a white crystal with a yellow glow, carrying an orb like core on its inside. As a boulder-like object, it requires at least two adult humans to carry it on a wooden barrow.[3]

Skills and Abilities[]

Sun Primal Connection[]

Magma Titans draw their power from the Sun and their power is at its peak when the sun is at its highest during noon.

Physical Attributes[]

The bodies of Magma Titans provide immense strength, as well as a durable protection through their thick, rocky carapaces, which can only be penetrated through the use of chisel-like tools[2] or harpoons shot from a ballista. Regular weapons, such as spears, fail to scratch their surface. Their high body heat allows them to melt steel, though their primary form of attacks are slamming of their palms onto an enemy or direct hits with their fists.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The detailed texture and glowing cracks of the Magma Titan were a challenge for the 2D/3D style of the show.[1]
  • In early concept art, the Magma Titan scaled the size of a mountain. This was no longer the case in the actual show.[8]
  • A notable specimen of the Magma Titan becomes the focus of two chapters of Book Two, namely "Breaking the Seal" and "Heart of a Titan". This specimen remains currently the only seen Magma Titan.
  • The Magma Titan is referred to as a "Magma Behemoth" in a file name of an image featured on Wonderstorm's official website.
  • It remains unknown whether the slain Magma Titan was the last of its kind despite the discussion between Harrow and Sarai.[2]
  • The roar of the Magma Titan is similar to that of Tyrannis Pax from Dragon Booster.
