History[]
Kasef was born to King Ahling inside Neolandia on February 2nd, nineteen years before the birth of the Azymondias.[1] As his father's firstborn child, Kasef was the heir to the throne of Neolandia.[2]
Kasef was briefly mentioned by his father during the meeting of the Pentarchy, where Ahling claimed him to fight back when having to eat his vegetables.[1] When his father was attacked by Viren's resurrected Moonshadow Elf Assassins not much later, Kasef took on the throne in his stead.[2]
First Saga[]
After his father was left in a comatose state, Kasef traveled to Katolis to propose an alliance with King Ezran so that both kingdoms could wage war on Xadia to avenge their fathers. When Ezran refused the offer, Kasef angrily stormed off the throne room.[2] Kasef later scolded Ezran for his naivety in believing that peace with Xadia was the best solution and was about to ride back to Neolandia when Saleer offered him to conspire with Viren to overthrow Ezran.[3] Kasef eventually returned to Ezran with an ultimatum: Katolis will join Neolandia, Del Bar, and Evenere in the war against Xadia or will be forced into war against the other three Human Kingdoms. Ezran did not desire casualties in Katolis and chose to abdicate before switching places with Viren,[4] allowing the latter to usurp the throne and lead the Human Kingdoms into war.[5] Kasef became acquainted with Soren and Claudia during their journey to Xadia before witnessing Viren using dark magic to create a path through the Border.[6] After Viren corrupted and stole the power of Lux Aurea, Kasef volunteered to become the first human to be enhanced and transformed to into a lava monster.[7] Kasef then followed Viren into marching towards the Storm Spire to kill Zubeia.[8] As the battle at the Storm Spire ensued, Kasef led the charge against the Sunfire Elves and managed to defeat Janai in single combat. Kasef then climbed the Storm Spire and intended to kill Callum himself, only to be shot and slain by Aanya's arrows.[9]
Book Three - Sun[]
The Crown[]
Kasef travels to Katolis, where he requests an audience with the new king, Ezran and is introduced as eldest son of King Ahling. After entering with a safe number of soldiers guarding him, he expresses his condolences for King Harrow's death, then awkwardly exchanges a handshake with Ezran. When Ezran addresses what had brought Kasef from Neolandia, the prince responds in confusion, remembering that the kingdom's regent, at the time Viren, had called on his nation to support Katolis in a war against Xadia. He demands to respond to the attacks on their fathers with war, then questions Ezran's authority, wishing to talk to an adult instead. When Ezran refuses to agree to war, Kasef claims Ezran to have failed his father and his kingdom and states that he would stay around to await a decision. After Ezran eventually returns from a break, Kasef learns the decision to choose peace, much to his displeasure, which he expresses through an angry nod and a glare as he leaves the throne room.
Ghost[]
Kasef is being summoned by Ezran once more and wonders if the king has had a change of heart. However, Ezran called him to inform him that Azymondias, the Dragon Prince is very well alive, unlike they had previously thought, and suggests that he may become a ray of hope that humans and Xadia can declare peace again. Infuriated, Kasef states that he believes Ezran to just be a little boy who believes in fairy tales before storming off. In the courtyard, he gets ready to ride off when he is approached by Saleer, who wishes to have a word. After Viren finished talking to Soren and Claudia, Saleer bribes a guard so Kasef can have a talk with him. Together, the three men devise a plan to get the war they want so badly.
The Midnight Desert[]
Kasef returns to Ezran's throne room with an ultimatum. He explains that the other two kingdoms, Del Bar and Evenere, are angry after the deaths of their rulers and want justice. He tells Ezran that by not joining them, his kingdom is in the way. With that, the armies of the former two kingdoms would side with Neolandia and march on the borders of Katolis to force them to join them in the war against Xadia. When Ezran still refuses, Kasef declares that the three armies will wage war on Katolis just to get by before he mounts his horse and rides off through the castle gate.
Heroes and Masterminds[]
Kasef attends the gathering of the new King Viren, where Claudia smiles at him, but is dismissed by a disinterested look.
Thunderfall[]
Kasef rides alongside Viren's army when Soren approaches him and the two introduce each other. Soren inquires about Kasef's accent and recalls his nation as "Noodleloodlia", to which the prince corrects the name to be Neolandia. Stunned by the repeated mispronunciation, Kasef rides ahead to meet Claudia, whom he informs that he believes her brother to be quite quirky. Claudia responds that she is usually the quirky one. Kasef then notices that Viren is talking to himself, but Soren corrects him that the mage is merely talking to his little bug pal. Even more confused, Kasef puts distance between himself and the odd family.
Later on, Kasef rides ahead of the army before returning to inform Viren that the Breach had been destroyed, leaving their forces stranded on the human side of the Border. However, Claudia gives Viren the horn of the Fire Dragon Pyrrah that Soren cut off, which allows the dark mage to create a path through the Border's river of churning lava.
Hearts of Cinder[]
During their journey through Xadia, Viren suggests Soren should act more like Kasef. The Neolandian prince rides past Soren as he listens to the latter sputtering minor insults of jealousy. After Viren returned from Lux Aurea and successfully obtained the staff of the Sunfire High Priest Pharos, Kasef awaits him with the others inside their camp, where he listens to the mage's speech about winning the war by evolving. After Soren refuses to take on the new "gift", Kasef volunteers to receive the newfound power, and a spell. Viren then uses the Sun staff to mutate Kasef's body into that of a mindless yet powerful magma creature.
Dragonguard[]
The now mutated Kasef marches towards the Storm Spire together with Viren's forces.
The Final Battle[]
Finally arriving at the base of the Storm Spire, Viren's army prepares for an attack against the allied forces, only to have Kasef ignore any green light and run head first into the enemy army. After initially being repelled by a shockwave from the Sunfire Elves' shields, Kasef manages to break through the army's defenses before he knocks Amaya away and meets an infuriated Janai on the battlefield. Due to Janai's ability to coat her body in a magma, Kasef meets a fair match in her and the two engage in a fierce fight until they are interrupted by a pack of Fire Dragons entering the scene. When the soldiers eventually start climbing the Storm Spire, Kasef breaches through Callum's magical defenses and chases him down with intent to kill him. Callum attempts to cast "Fulminis", but Kasef tackles the younger prince down, giving him opportunity to lift him by the throat and preparing to give him the final blow. However, he is unable to finish his move as an arrow penetrates his hand, then two more are sent out by Aanya, one piercing Kasef's chest and his right eye. Kasef staggers towards the cliff before he falls off and succumbs to his injuries.
