History
Ibis was born inside Xadia on May 5th and had long been a liaison between elves and dragons.[1] At an unknown point in his life, Ibis became one of the powerful Skywing Elf mages in history and a "legendary master of the four winds".[2] He also learned about Aaravos's imprisonment and that the Startouch Elf was the one who gave the relic staff to Ziard.[3]
Ibis rushed to Zubeia's aid when he heard that she had fallen ill from her grief of losing Avizandum and Azymondias, hoping that his magic could help in healing her.[4]
First Saga
Ibis greeted Team Zym shortly after they arrived at the Storm Spire, where he expressed his joy in learning that Azymondias was still alive, but he sadly told them that they may have arrived too late,[5] since Zubeia had not awakened from her sleep for 10 days. Soren eventually arrived at the Storm Spire to inform Ibis and Team Zym that his father Viren and his army were marching to their location after corrupting and stealing power from Lux Aurea. Ibis decided to scout ahead and despite being surprised by Callum's ability to use magic, he advised Team Zym to take Azymondias as far away as possible if they wished to have hope. Ibis later returned to the Storm Spire with Embertail, Janai, and Amaya before accepting Team Zym's decision to stay and fight. Ibis then flew off with Pyrrah and Ezran to gather more reinforcements.[4]
During the battle at the Storm Spire, Ibis returned with Pyrrah and Ezran leading a pack of Fire Dragons. When the battle was over, Ibis witnessed Zubeia waking up from her slumber and reunite with Azymondias.[6]
Second Saga
Two years after Zym reunited with Zubeia, Ibis remained at the Storm Spire to help raise the Dragon Prince. He bid his farewell when Zym, Zubeia, and Pyrrah flew off to visit Ezran in Katolis.[2] Ibis soon discovered that Claudia attempted to steal the relic staff and fought her in a vicious duel before he wounded her. Before Ibis could deliver a fatal blow, Claudia's Earthblood Elf boyfriend Terry stabbed him in the back. As Ibis slowly succumbed to his wound, he climbed to the pinnacle of the Storm Spire to perform a spell that transformed his last breath into a message that warned Zubeia about the potential return of Aaravos.[3]
The grieving Team Zym discovered Ibis's lifeless body on the pinnacle of the Storm Spire[7] and held a funeral for him in the morning after.[8]
Book Three - Sun
Hearts of Cinder
Upon Team Zym's arrival at the gates of the Storm Spire, Ibis welcomes them by claiming that his heart leaps knowing that Azymondias is still alive. However, he informs them that their arrival is dated too late.
Dragonguard
Picking up at the previous moment, Ibis reveals that the Dragon Queen, Zubeia, has fallen into a deep slumber and has not awakened for 10 days, confirming however that she has not yet died. He leads the group into the lair of the dragons, where they find the queen slumbering. Later, after Soren climbed the Storm Spire to warn the group of Viren's plan to march an army to their location, he listens observantly and afterwards makes his way to the pinnacle to scout for the enemy. He is then approached by Callum, who inquires as to how Ibis plans to scout from the sky when he is lacking wings and worries that his statement may have been rude, but Ibis claims that his ego remains unharmed. As they reach the top, the mage explains to Callum that only one in ten Skywing Elves are blessed with wings, but that some are capable of learning a spell that allows them to grow wings manually. He demonstrates this when he casts "Manus. Pluma. Volantus." and shows off his wings after plumage has grown on his arms. When Callum begs to be taught this mysterious spell, Ibis chuckles, beginning to state that humans cannot learn magic, but is interrupted when Callum, to his surprise, casts "Fulminis". Despite his repeated pleas to teach him, Ibis instead asks to offer him advice and tells him to leave, hide and survive instead of engaging in the fight, then flies off. At evening of the same day, after Team Zym has decided to stay and fight, Ibis returns to the group with Embertail, Janai, and Amaya, and lets them know that the enemy would arrive at daybreak, then leads them outside where more allies join them. Despite his previous statement to run, he eventually agrees to stay and fight alongside everyone and joins Ezran and Pyrrah in flying off to gather reinforcements.
The Final Battle
After the final battle is over, Ibis joins everyone inside the Storm Spire, where he bows to Ezran to acknowledge him as the new king of Katolis and a savior of Xadia. When Zubeia finally awakens, he watches her reunite with her baby with a joyful expression.
Book Four - Earth
Fallen Stars
Ibis attempts to convince a stubborn Zym to eat his dinner of vegetables so that the dragonling can begin his journey to Katolis alongside Zubeia and Pyrrah. Ibis expresses his disdain on how he, one of the most powerful Sky mages in the history of Xadia, is reduced to a babysitter. When Zubeia and Pyrrah arrive, Ibis decides to use a Sky spell to throw the vegetables out of the Storm Spire and lies to the Dragon Queen about her son finishing his dinner. Ibis then hugs and bids Zym farewell as the dragons set out to visit Katolis.
Breathtaking
Ibis gets involved in a duel with Claudia as she attempts to recover the relic staff from the Arcus Vault. He eventually gains the upper hand in the fight and prepares to kill Claudia due to the danger that the staff poses to the world if she returns it to its rightful owner. As Ibis is about to cast "Fulgur Mortifer" on Claudia, he is stabbed in the back by her Earthblood Elf boyfriend Terry. In his last moments, Ibis climbs to the pinnacle of the Storm Spire and uses his last breath in a spell to message Zubeia about the impending return of Aaravos.
Through the Looking Glass
Upon listening to Ibis's message, Zubeia and Team Zym journey to the Storm Spire. When they arrive, they are horrified to find Ibis's lifeless body on the pinnacle of the Storm Spire and mourn his death.
The Great Gates
Zubeia and Team Zym hold a funeral for Ibis on the pinnacle of the Storm Spire, with Callum casting the spell "Sepultura Caelo" to transform Ibis's body into a flock of birds, sending him onto his last journey to the sky.
