The episode begins with three Adoraburrs sleeping on top of flowers, who then chirp excitedly when they wake up. When Claudia walks by them, she notices them and leans down to look at them.
Claudia stuffs the Adoraburr into her bag, then turns to look over at the rest of Viren's army. When she realizes she is too far behind, she bolts of running after them.
[Lashes out] Enough, Soren! If you want to lead, you need to learn how to follow. And if you want to learn how to follow, you need to learn how to shut your mouth.
Soren looks at him with a submissive expression, visibly sad about his reaction.
You think you're so great, with your quietness, rugged battle stance, and your horse with kind eyes!
Kasef's horse snorts and whinnies, then leaves Soren behind. Soren leaves his head hanging. Meanwhile, Viren rides ahead again to be alone with Aaravos.
Yes. You must take down the Dragon Queen and capture the baby dragon. Then you will have the attention of all the world, and the power to do what you want. But first, there is something we need here in Lux Aurea.
[Looks at the city in the distance] You want us to attack the stronghold of the Sunfire Elves? But we need to preserve our forces for the final confrontation.
Lux Aurea can be seen in the distance as the two gaze upon it.
Scene Change
Avizandum's petrified body is shown before the focus shifts on to the Storm Spire in the distance. Team Zym makes their way towards the spire's stairs, where Zym lands and chirps.
[Unimpressed] You see, sister? You bring one human, and the next thing you know, we are overrun with them. [Waves her hand dismissively] Throw him in a cell.
[Rubs the back of his head] Oh, I see. You're saying we should hide it from her. Kind of a secret, forbidden-romance situation? [Grins and looks at her suggestively]
Viren groans and strains until his eyes are tearing up from the intensity of the light he is exposed to. He screams as the magic reveals his true form, then pants once released from the judgement.
[Stands] Your true form is revealed. Ugly and evil. I am not surprised. [Lifts Viren's chin with her scepter] But don't give up hope, you will be purified.
You don't understand. If he's here, everyone is in danger! We have to stop him!
Janai considers the words, her facial expression growing serious.
Scene Change
On the group's ascent, Zym excitedly jumps onto a rock, spreading his wings. He looks back to his exhausted friends, then flies to sit on Callum's shoulder.
There is nothing to be afraid of. The light from the Sunforge is one of purification. It will only remove the parts of you that have been touched by dark magic.
Pharos lifts his staff in front of the Sunforge, capturing its light before redirecting it to move towards Viren. Viren gasps in fear while Khessa watches with a smile on her face. Outside, further away, Janai, Amaya, and Kazi are making their way to the Sunforge to stop Viren.
Ugh! Humans disgust me. Your kind could not be satisfied with what you were given. So you take what is not yours. You take it within you, and you turn it to filth.
Viren exhales sharply as steam surrounds his body, his head lifting upward, where Aaravos's familiar emerges from his throat, screeching. The familiar crawls onto the sun staff, then leaps onto Pharos, where it bites his neck. Khessa gasps as she watches the Sunforge's Primal Stone corrupt and turns on a black color with red steam surrounding it. The spell around Viren disappears and Pharos struggles against a wind-like energy taking a hold of him. He eventually succumbs to the magic and his body is taken over by Aaravos, whose astral body then becomes visible to the shocked bystanders. His caterpillar now sits on his left shoulder. Khessa glares at the Startouch Elf, while her soldiers ready their weapons.
The soldiers charge to attack Aaravos, but he easily disengages them by slamming the staff's end into the ground, causing a shockwave to emit that tosses the elves against the nearby pillars. Khessa glares at him once more.
You allowed my vessel to walk right into your court, and then you brought him directly to the source of all your power? [Lifts the sun staff and examines it with a grin. Laughs] Oh, the irony is wonderful! [Gives his caterpillar chin scratches, then approaches Khessa] You're just like your grandmother.
Khessa looks at him in fear, then tries to step away from him when he walks closer and pulls her in by wrapping the staff around her back.
Would you like to know the truth of her fate... before you face yours?
Khessa pushes the staff away, but Aaravos places his hand onto her cheek and forces her towards the edge of the platform. He then whispers something indistinctly, causing Khessa's eyes to widen in shock, before Aaravos touches her chin, applying a spell which then causes her body to disintegrate. Khessa's dissolving body falls off the platform with a scream, which is witnessed by Janai.
Janai enters her heat-being mode and shouts, running toward the Sunforge, but is tackled down by Amaya before she can get very far. The elf struggles against her, but Amaya holds her down despite being burned by her skin, then gives her a serious look, which quickly turns into a gaze that tells her that she can no longer do anything to help her.
Viren gets back up on his feet and walks towards Aaravos at the edge, who loyally bows to him and hands him the sun staff. His caterpillar returns onto Viren's shoulder and Aaravos releases Pharos's body, letting it fall to the ground, as his form disappears. Viren proudly looks down onto the city while the corrupted Sunforge is shown.
Scene Change
While Zym flies circles through the air, the humanoid part of the group progressively grow more exhausted, panting heavily.
Zym chirps gleefully, as a growl sounds from behind Ezran and a red snout nudges against him. The dragon that had attacked the human town, Pyrrah, towers over him, stretching her wings. When she approaches, Ezran stumbles back and holds tightly onto Zym. Close up, Ezran notices the missing horn and recognizes her.
Hey! I've met you before, when you crashed. You're okay now!
Pyrrah raises her claw and scares Ezran for a second, before she slams it into the rock beneath her. She then carves a symbol into the stone. Ezran examines it for a moment.
Soren and Claudia gaze upon the corrupted Sunforge from a safe distance back at their camp, when Kasef joins them. Claudia, who is holding Viren's relic staff, places a hand onto her brother's arm in alarm when their father makes his return with a wide grin on his face. When a soldier in the camp notices Viren, he gets Saleer's attention.
[Looks at the crowd with a displeased expression] Do not be afraid. You will understand when you see the first to change... [Closes eyes] my own beloved son, Soren. [Turns to look at Soren]
I am ready to receive the gift! [Steps towards Viren]
Viren places a hand onto Kasef's upper back proudly, then glares back at Soren, who sheepishly averts his gaze. While Kasef steps in front of Viren to receive the magic, Soren looks down in thought, which is noticed by Claudia but not addressed. Kasef braces to receive the magic and Viren holds the staff towards him, then begins to chant.
Nrub tonnac rednic fo straeh. (Hearts of cinder cannot burn)
Kasef is blinded by the light emitted from the staff, but stands his ground while the soldiers watch in awe. Viren repeats his chant and the magic takes over Kasef's body in a purple light. When his hand begins to form into magma, it twists and bends and grows in size, beginning to shock even Kasef. Claudia, Soren and the soldiers watch the events unfolding in fear, while Viren continues to chant. Kasef's body mutates into a lava monster when an explosion sounds, then roars once fully mutated, his new magma heart briefly lighting up. The soldiers remain shocked, though Saleer smiles confidently. The newly mutated Kasef breathes heavily and roars. This is when Soren decides to leave and runs off, but is watched by Claudia once again.
Scene Change
Callum and Rayla lie on the floor, hardly breathing, when Ezran walks up to them and shakes his brother.
Guys! Wake up! You gotta wake up! [Places Bait down, then pulls out Callum's sketchbook and places it onto the floor] I know how to fix everything. The gateway wasn't a warning. It was the solution!
[Drawing into the sketchbook] To make it all the way up, you have to draw your last breath. [Holds the book up to show the rune he drew] It's a rune, Callum! And the trigger words are Ventus Spiralis.
Callum sighs and takes in another breath as he sits up and reads the book again, then begins to draw the rune into the air. Although the brothers are almost out of breath, he manages to finish drawing the rune.
The rune fills the air with a fresh breeze and everyone takes in a breath of air. Bait wakes up again and is hugged by Ezran, when Callum rushes over to Rayla to check on her.
I can't stay here anymore, Claudia. [Removes her hand from his wrist] You've seen what's going on. [Gestures into the direction they came from] What Dad turned Kasef into. What Dad turned into.
[Desperate, while holding onto his hand on her shoulder] Please, Soren, don't... don't do this to me. [Shakes his hand off and shuts her eyes in pain] Don't make me choose. Not again!
Soren shuts his eyes as he feels sorry for his sister, but moves on while Claudia has her back turned to him, clenching her fists.
Scene Change
Viren stands before his army, Saleer and his relic staff on his right, Kasef and the corrupted sun staff to his left. Aaravos's caterpillar is lying on his shoulders.
The combined energy of the staffs emits a purple light, causing the campfires to turn purple. Viren repeats the spell and slams the staffs into the ground, emitting a purple magic wave that washes over the soldiers. A soldier is shown cringing, then staring at his hands that then turn into heat-being mode, which slowly climbs up to his face. Once the transformation is done, he grins and growls, then makes his way toward Viren alongside other soldiers. Viren and Aaravos proudly look at each other, then nod. As Claudia returns, she gasps in shock upon seeing the lava soldiers gather.
Scene Change
Team Zym has reached the top of the Storm Spire, where Ezran dismounts the Shadowpaw and all of them walk up to the lair's entrance.
