Florian was the king of the rugged mountains of Del Bar. He was killed by Moonshadow Elf Assassins after they were resurrected by Viren as part of a plan to goad the Human Kingdoms into waging war against Xadia.[1]

Appearance[]

Florian is a heavily-built man with blonde hair tied back in a small ponytail, a full beard, pale blue eyes, and a fair complexion. He wears a waist-length fur cape supported by a chain link, over what appears to be a set of leather armor, along with fur-lined boots and bracers. His underclothing underneath the armor appears to be either a green robe or a long shirt with matching pants.

Personality[]

Florian often behaved as if he was everyone's uncle. He would never stop laughing and patting people on their backs. He was generally a very strong and upbeat man with a big heart that valued a hard day's work and a warm hearth at night.[2][3] According to Viren, Florian never seemed to have an original idea or an opinion of his own.[4]

History[]

Book Two - Sky[]

Breaking the Seal[]

After being requested by Viren, King Florian joins the meeting of all human monarchs to discuss how to proceed against Xadia after Harrow's death. He watches the mage's illusions display the potential terrors of the enemy and confirms his agreement for an alliance if all kingdoms were to agree in unity.

Heart of a Titan[]

Florian listens to Viren and Aanya as they voice their points for and against an alliance. His silence can be interpreted as agreement with Aanya, as he does not protest against the girl's decision to refuse the alliance.

Book Three - Sun[]

The Crown[]

King Ezran is informed that King Florian has been the victim of an assassination, acted out by resurrected elven assassins sent by Viren, successfully fooling his people into believing Xadia to be responsible for his death.

Trivia[]

  • The name "Florian" is of Latin origin and means "flowering".[5]
