Evenere is one of the five Human Kingdoms and the smallest of all human territory. Its signature colors are black and green, and its symbol is a dragonfly.[3]
History[]
Evenere was formed as one of the five kingdoms following the Mage Wars, after the banishment of humanity to the western side of the continent.
During the battle at the Storm Spire, Evenere joined Viren's forces in a war against Xadia.[4]
Geography[]
Evenere is located in the far Southwest of the Human Kingdoms and is hidden in the convoluted tributaries of swamplands, giving it a reputation as a dreary place.[3] Before Evenere opened its border, few had navigated the maze-like swamplands of the West to meet its people.[5] It also neighbors on the Pawprint Isles and the Independent Isles.
Flora[]
Evenere is home to unique plant and animal substances that create valuable products such as medicines, waxes, and sealants. These products are traded with other nations.[1]
Wildlife[]
The swamps of Evenere are home to various dangerous creatures such as Eight-Legged Water Striders, Marsh Toads, Flying Batfish, Bog Hyenas, and Eon-Mawed Megagators. Insects include the Puddlewave Bugs and the Soilmonger Beetles. Ancient magical wildlife is rumored to hide within the swamps, and dark mages occasionally travel to the swamps in search of ingredients for their spells.[1]
Culture and Customs[]

Cut off from the other kingdoms by any avenue other than ships, the people of Evenere live fiercely independent lives. Its isolation from the helping hands of neighbors has created the misconception that the intense bonds between its citizens are often perceived as fear and mistrust of foreigners.[5] They are connected to the other kingdoms only through small trading posts.[1]
Evenereans are known to be studious and intelligent across several disciplines. Instead of schools, they are taught in school boats. Evenerean language includes dragonfly-like humming. Their knowledge also includes herbal remedies, such as salves and herbs. Their crafted prosthetics are said to be beautiful.[1]
Government[]
Evenere was ruled by Queen Fareeda until her assassination by Viren's resurrected elven assassins.[6] However, they eventually figured out that Viren was the one who orchestrated the attack. Following her death, several prominent families have taken an interest in the throne. The ruling royalty rarely sends out emissaries and rather attends meetings in person.[1]
Military[]
Evenere is presumed to have the smallest military due to its small size in comparison to the other nations. Evenerean warriors rarely train in standard war tactics, but are skilled at battling native beasts.[1] The armor worn by soldiers in battle consists of a small black chest plate with engravings inlaid with gold and attached spaulders. Additionally, the soldiers wear a pair of crimson pants, two pieces of fabric hanging down from their chest plates, as well as a belt with a green stone or gem embedded in the middle. Their helmets cover most of the soldiers' faces, leaving room for vision, and are designed with four points on their tops, similar to Fareeda's crown. Further accessories include armbands.
Traditions and Law[]
Winter in Evenere is a time in which villagers will decorate their boats with colorful lanterns and travel to designated lakes, rivers, or harbors to celebrate. Together, the boats will form a massive, floating festival in the form of a glowing dragonfly, lasting for several days. This festival is known as the "Festival of Dragonflies".[1] Since it is the only time the isolated Evenereans will interact with outsiders, adults of legal age are known to leave their hometown to pursue romance. This festival celebrates renewed friendship, budding courtship, and great food.[2]
Fashion[]
The people of Evenere tend to wear darker colors, usually ones that match the official colors of their kingdom, such as green and black. Their clothes also appear in lighter colors, such as gold.
Food[]
A delicacy during the winter festivities in Evenere is a serving of crawfish stew over rice, commonly served with a warm slice of bread.[2]
Notable Locations[]
Royal Library[]
The Royal Library of Evenere keeps "The Epic of the Void" poem, an ancient document holding information about Startouch Elves written by an unknown poet. The library is overseen by the strict High Mage of Evenere, who turns away most scholars to preserve Startouch scholarship.[7]
Settlements[]
As Evenere lacks a capital, Evenereans instead live in small settlements that are lit by lanterns or nomadic groups. Their housing includes houseboats that often swim together in a flotilla.[1]
Megagator Hill[]
A hill located in the middle of Evenere, which formed out of the body of a dead Eon-Mawed Megagator. The creature died succumbing to its greed when it stole an artifact of a mage, which poisoned its blood upon swallowing it. Said blood poisoned the water surrounding the hill, resulting in a territory where nothing can thrive.[1]
