History[]
Domina Profundis was born in Xadia at an unknown point several centuries before the birth of Azymondias and became an Archdragon by mastering the arcanum of the Ocean over the years. She also became friends with Zubeia, an Archdragon of the Sky, and actively helped her in maintaining peace across Xadia. While Domina watched over the rain, the lakes, and the rivers above the surface, a powerful leviathan called the Empress of the Deep protected the seas in her stead.[1]
Following the mysterious death of the Dragon Queen Luna Tenebris, Domina Profundis joined the fight of the Archdragons eligible to succeed her as the new monarch of Xadia, facing both Rex Igneous and Avizandum in battle. As violence threatened to escalate between the dragons, Domina Profundis and the other Archdragons placed their trust for the decision in Queen Aditi, the leader of the Sunfire Elves who intended to peacefully determine who the next monarch should be. However, Queen Aditi mysteriously vanished before the decision was finalized. Domina Profundis later helped in imprisoning Aaravos after a young human girl revealed his treachery, and was given a clue of the Startouch Elf's prison's true nature as a large pearl inside a giant clam.[2][3][4]
When Domina Profundis learned that greedy humans and elves were using a hundred ships to hunt the Empress of the Deep, she rushed to aid her friend. However, the Empress was already dead when Domina arrived, causing grief and fury to drive the Archdragon to avenge her fallen friend by drowning the ships in a terrible storm. Despite her victory, Domina was still overwhelmed with anger and guilt, so she chose to isolate herself into the depths of the seas despite Zubeia begging her not to. Domina then gave Zubeia the Siren Stone, the singular key of an ancient rune-beacon on the eastern coast of Xadia that when activated, would summon her to the surface during a time of need.[1]
Sometime after her isolation, Domina Profundis was informed that Shelley, a Giant Hermit Crab that was commanded by the Tidebound Elf Finnegrin, was attacking leviathans and krakens across Xadia's seas. Domina responded to the attacks by killing Shelley, which created a grudge between her and Finnegrin. Although Domina Profundis spared Finnegrin, she vowed to drown the Tidebound Elf herself if she ever saw him a mile offshore again.[5]
Second Saga[]
Domina Profundis answered the summon of the Siren Stone and presented herself to Ezran, Azymondias, Soren, Corvus, and Zubeia. Domina revealed that she did not know the location of Aaravos's prison, but she did know about its true nature as a large pearl inside a giant clam.[3][4]
Domina Profundis agreed to join the fight against Aaravos after Rayla used the Siren Stone to summon her.[6] She flew to Lux Aurea, where she, Zubeia, and Team Zym confronted Aaravos and the resurrected Avizandum.[7] When Avizandum and Zubeia decided to sacrifice themselves to destroy Aaravos's physical body, Domina used her body to shield Team Zym and their allies from the explosion, sacrificing herself in the process. After Aaravos was defeated, Team Zym created a monument in the Valley of the Graves to honor Domina Profundis's courage and sacrifice.[8]
Book Four - Earth[]
Through the Looking Glass[]
Domina Profundis appears in a flashback told by Zubeia when she fought Avizandum and Rex Igneous to become the new Queen of the Dragons after Luna Tenebris died without a suitable heir. The fighting between the Archdragons stopped when Queen Aditi of the Sunfire Elves stepped in to guide them towards a righteous path. However, Aditi mysteriously vanished before she could finalize her decision.
Book Five - Ocean[]
Domina Profundis[]
Domina Profundis answers the summon of the ancient rune-beacon after Ezran activated it with the Siren Stone. Domina is irked that she had been summoned by a child and sends a wave that splashes Ezran's group. When Zubeia clarifies that Ezran is a king, Domina Profundis chooses to listen to him inquiring about the location of Aaravos's prison. Domina divulges that while she does not know about the prison's location, she does know about its true nature as a large pearl inside a giant clam.
Archmage Akiyu[]
Domina Profundis appears in a flashback when Akiyu tells Team Zym about her role in imprisoning Aaravos.
Book Seven - Dark[]
Dying Light[]
Domina Profundis flies to Lux Aurea before firing a torrent of water that briefly knocks Aaravos and the resurrected Avizandum to the ground. She then stands next to Zubeia as they hold their ground. Aaravos taunts Domina and her allies as arrogant fools since such confrontation reminds him of the time when he was imprisoned. The Startouch Elf encourages the Archdragons to kill him and destroy themselves in the process, even though they will merely be sending him back to the heavens, and he will return when his stars align with Xadia in seven years and nineteen days. Callum offered an alternative by using dark magic and the relic staff to imprison Aaravos in one of Viren's enchanted coins before allowing Runaan to kill him so the Startouch Elf would not possess his body.
Nova[]
Domina Profundis and Zubeia continue to stand their ground against Aaravos as Callum prepared to cast the dark magic spell and as Ezran and Azymondias arrive with the Nova Blade. However, the Being and Avizandum manage to distract Aaravos, allowing Domina to fire another torrent of water that knock the Startouch Elf to the ground. As Avizandum and Zubeia lift Aaravos to the sky and prepare to sacrifice themselves, Domina Profundis uses her body to shield Team Zym and their allies from the inevitable explosion, telling them to hold onto each other. Aaravos's exploding body resulted in the deaths of Domina, Zubeia, and Avizandum.References[]
