The Corona of the Heavens[1] is a magical artifact that used to hold two of the only three Quasar Diamonds known to exist in the whole world.[2] It was believed to hold all three, but the center gem was revealed to be a counterfeit, for Aaravos had secretly embedded the real gem in the relic staff.[3]
It was kept inside the Star Scraper and guarded by the Celestial Elves[4] before Callum and Rayla obtained it as a reward for stopping the Ice Behemoth Esmeray from creating ice storms in the northern sky.[5]
Information[]
The Quasar Diamonds embedded in the Corona of the Heavens allow its wearer to perform spells connected to the Stars.[6]
History[]
The Corona of the Heavens was crafted at an unknown point before it was kept under guard by the Celestial Elves in the Star Scraper.[5] The Celestial Elves wear blindfolds their whole lives, so no light from the Sun or the Moon ever touches their eyes. They only remove their blindfolds on a clear moonless night, so the only light the ever see is pure starlight. However, since the mysterious death of Luna Tenebris some 300 years before the birth of Azymondias, her pet Ice Behemoth, Esmeray, had been creating powerful blizzards out of sorrow due to missing her master, and on moonless nights is when she misses her the most. As a result, the Celestial Elves had not seen the stars in a very long time and intended to gift the Corona of the Heavens to the Chosen Two: a human mage and an elven warrior prophesied to return the moonless nights.[7][5]
Callum and Rayla journeyed to the Star Scraper in hopes of finding a way to kill the fallen Startouch Elf Aaravos. The Celestial Elves gifted them with the Corona of the Heavens after they pacified Esmeray and returned the moonless nights to the Star Scraper, fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen Two.[5]
Callum and Rayla intended to bring the Corona of the Heavens to the Moon Nexus and use the Quasar Diamonds to free Rayla's family from Viren's enchanted coins. However, upon arriving at the Moon Nexus, Lujanne inspected the embedded Quasar Diamonds, and she noticed that one of the gems is a just normal purple rock.[3]
Callum and Rayla managed to use one of their two Quasar Diamonds to free Runaan from his coin, while Claudia used the Quasar Diamond from the relic staff to free Aaravos from his prison, leaving only one Quasar Diamond left.[8]
