The Banther licks Ezran's face and runs away, scaring a passer-by as it goes past. Meeting Ezran's gaze Claudia smiles sheepishly. They wonder though the town.
I kind of have a way with animals. And banthers are actually pretty friendly. They like praise, compliments, and a friendly scratch under the chin every now and then.
They avert their gazes awkwardly. Around them townspeople repair the damage caused by the dragon attack. Ezran looks ahead, his eyes widening while he spots the tower
I know it's not the same, but... when I was a kid, my mom and dad split up. when I was a kid, my mom and dad split up. I remember hearing them fight a lot at night after we went to bed. And then one day, they told us Mom was moving back to Del Bar, where her family was from. And then they said... we had to choose. And Soren chose Dad. How could I choose? How could I do that? Then my mom looked at my dad, and she told me to stay. She said I had to stay with Soren, that this was my home, and my brother and I needed each other. And then she left.
Sometimes things can get so complicated that our minds can't quite sort them out alone. But when you slow down and let yourself breathe, your spirit and your body can catch up with your mind, and help out.
To know something truly and deeply, you must know it with your head, hand, and heart. Mind, body, and spirit. I love you with all of myself, and I always will.
It's not one simple thing. It's all the things. They just had to... come together, you know? It's like, I used to hold the power of the sky in my hand, right? But now that's gone. But, Rayla, the whole world is like a giant primal stone, and we're inside it! I'm inside sky magic, but it's also in me, with every breath I take. [He exhales a few times.]
Yes! And I kept thinking about birds, and sails, and how they connect to the wind. And I thought I had to find my wings... but that's just it, I am the wing!
Moment of truth. Let's see if I can really do this.
Standing at the edge of the ledge outside the cave, Callum spreads his hand, then brings them close to his chest while closing his eyes. Rayla, Bait and Zym watch from behind, as he holds out his right hand with his index finger extended. He flexes his finger and blue energy shimmers from the tip. Rayla, Bait and Zym watch in awe as Callum slowly traces a glowing wind breath rune in the air. As he inhales deeply a gust of wind spirals around Callum.
I... I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you. I tried to, but I just... couldn't.
Callum and Ezran look each other in the eyes. Then Ezran jumps forward with tears in his eyes and hugs Callum.
Scene Change
In the grove, Claudia approaches the three grazing deer. As she kneels before one and offers it the milk-fruit, the others run away. The deer eats out of her hand.
Claidia electrifies Soren with tendrils of powerful blue energy. As energy surges through his body, Soren levitates into the air. Releasing the spell, Claudia collapses, a strand of her hair turning white and her eyes turning black. Soren lands on the bed.
I can... I can feel again! I can feel my knees, and my strong, powerful thighs. And my ribs! Ahh! Ugh! [He groans] I broke ribs, didn't I? It's horrible! I can feel again! Ahh!.
Soren sits up and looks at his hunched over sister.
Yeah. And when I found out Dad was gone forever, I ran away again. I've been running away from things my whole life. But I can't run away from growing up.
I'm not going with you to Xadia. [He turns away] I have to face my responsibility. Now that I'm King, I have to go home. Maybe I can help the world better from the throne. I can do whatever I can to stop the war.
I'm so proud of you, little guy. You're going to grow up so strong and good. I'm sorry I couldn't help you learn to fly, but I know you'll get it soon!
Ezran hugs Zym, then stands up and picks up Bait. He heads off following Corvus. As Zym hops after him and clutches his legs Ezran turn and kneels.
I wish you could come with me too, but you need to go be with your mom. That's your home. Both of us need to go home.
Ezran walks away. Callum holds Zym to stop him from following. Ezran throws Zym a last glance, then follows Corvus. Zym squirms in Callum's hands. Ezran starts to look back but stops and forces himself onward.
Scene Change
Back in Katolis, soldiers march in the courtyard. Viren watches them from the balcony of the King's chambers holding a large bundle.
You tried to win over the other humans with loyalty and friendship, but they ignored you. Those who fail tests of love are simple animals. They deserve to be motivated by fear.
Virren opens the bundle on the floor, revealing four elven weapons. He places a bowl below each weapon. He takes a pinch of ash from one bowl, lights a red candle with a snap of his fingers. While he chants an incantation he drops the ash in the flame which turns purple. His eyes also turn purple.
Nissassa ykoms niaga esir, nellaf fo hsa. (Ash of fallen, rise again smoky assassin.)[Blows on the candle.]
He blows forth a thick black and purple smoke onto a curved blade. The smoke morphs into the form of an elf, it's eyes glowing purple. Viren sprinkles ash from another bowl on the candle and blows forth a second smoke elk who wields a staff. A third elf takes shape wielding two short daggers while a fourth rises with a sword. Viren stands up, his skin a ghastly shade of blueish-grey and his eyes turning black.
Rayla and Callum turn around gazing at the night sky, clouds slowly uncover a bright crescent moon. When they look back the moonlight causes blue runes on some of the stones creating a path over the lava.
Rayla gingerly makes her way across the first few stones, then stops and gives a small bow. Smiling excitedly Zym scampers across the rocks alongside Callum. The first rocks they stepped on slowly sink into the lava.
Scene Change
At Katolis Castle Viren, still in his dark magic form, enters his study with his staff in his hand and the caterpillar on his ear. He locks the door behind him and walks over to a bookshelf. When he presses a book the bookshelf turns around and reveals his secret terrarium with the glowing butterflies. He grabs one.
An iridescent light shines from Aaravos' eyes. The door to Viren's study explodes throwing several soldiers back. The dust clears to reveal Viren, his eyes glowing with the same light as in Aaravos' eyes. Three soldiers run up to Viren. In the mirror Aaravos traces a golden-yellow rune with both hands. In the study Viren fires bolts of yellow energy to two of the soldiers. Aaravos traces an icy blue rune, Viren stabs soldiers reducing them to rubble. As soldiers surround Viren, Aaravos completes a purple rune. Viren slams his staff to the ground, firing a massive surge of purple lightning that sends the soldiers flying. One crashes into the shepherdess painting while another topples Pip's cage freeing the bird. An arrow strikes Viren's thigh while Opeli enters with several archers.
You're completely surrounded, Viren! Give yourself up. Don't make me give the order.
Darkness spreads over the mirror's surface and Aaravos recedes into it. The iridescent glow fades from Viren's eyes and he drops his staff. As two soldiers lead him away he glances at the caterpillar on his ear.
The caterpillar crawls into his ear. Opeli follows the soldiers taking Viren away. Behind her two soldiers examine the shepherdess painting which stands slightly ajar. One of them swings it open to reveal the secret passage.
Scene Change
On the moonstone path two rocks sink into the lava. Up ahead Rayla, Callum and Zym stroll down the rune lit path. Rayla stops and looks up.
The trio scampers across the path. At the end, sunlight shines filters through an archlike formation formed by two boulders and spreads across the path, neutralizing the glowing runes. Faced by unmarked rocks, the trio stops and Zym hides whimps Callum. Elsewhere Ezran stops walking and hears a faint sound of Zym whimping.
They're in trouble![Ezran telepathically communicates with Zym] Okay, Zym, you can do this. You need to block the light.
Zym looks at the sun, slowly rising behind the arch. Then leaps onto Callum's head. Meanwhile Ezran climbs onto Corvus' shoulders and spreads his arms, his eyes closed.
Zym suddenly drops out of the air. Both Rayla and Callum gasp. Landing on the path, Zym hops from rock to rock, each sinking into the lava from the contact.
He blows a gust of wind which blows Zym back into the air. As the gust dissipates Zym flies on his own toward the arch. Aligning on the arch, Zym turns his back to the sun and spreads his wings, creating a shadow on the path, it's runes glowing again.
We're both alive, that's the important thing. And we're not coming back empty-handed. [She holds the dragons horn] It's the horn you cut off the dragon.
