Akiyu is a powerful Tidebound Elf Archmage who took part in the imprisonment of Aaravos.[2][1] Records of her have all but vanished from any modern texts, even in Xadia's extensive libraries.[3]

Appearance[]

Akiyu is an elderly Tidebound Elf with short stature, pale blue skin, blue hair that greatly resemble tentacles, pale pink sea shell-like horns, fins for ears, and coral-pink eyes with pale pink markings running over them. Parts of her head are decorated with pieces of coral, seashells, barnacles, and kelps. These decorations also adorn her white tunic. She carries an Ocean staff that can be disguised as a walking stick.

Personality[]

Akiyu is a rather eccentric and distracted hermit since centuries of isolation have driven her a bit crazy. However, underneath all that eccentricity, Akiyu is a scared woman who fears for her life due to the secrets she carries with her. Despite these fears, she is more than willing to help those who wish to prevent Aaravos from escaping and urges them to fulfill their tasks instead of asking more questions.[1]

Skills and Abilities[]

Ocean Primal Connection[]

As a Tidebound Elf, Akiyu draws power from the Ocean and is at her strongest deep underwater, at high tide, and during a rainfall. She can breathe and stay underwater for an indefinite amount of time.[1]

Ocean Magic Mastery[]

As a Tidebound Elf Archmage, Akiyu is a master of Ocean magic who can cast spells without speaking the required incantations.[1]

Magical Construction[]

Akiyu is an expert magical builder, for she was responsible for creating the prison that can contain a prisoner as powerful as Aaravos. She can also create a magical amulet that will allow other mages to perform Ocean magic.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The name "Akiyu" exists as two combined words in Japanese and is associated with "autumn", as well as terms such as "bright", "gentle", "soothing", or "elegant".[4]
  • The name "Tina" is of English and Greek origins that is derived from the Old English words "tyne" or "tyna", which mean "river".[5]
  • Akiyu's role as a legendary yet eccentric master of the past who lives in an aquatic environment and does not reveal her true identity to the main characters until they have learned something valuable is similar to that of Yoda from the "Star Wars" franchise.
